If you could have a song played at your funeral (granted having a funeral at all), which one would you like it to be?

I've had this question in the back of my mind since OP first posted, but I really could not think of anything, not even a song that would be meant to be funny or ironic. But this evening, Converge's "Wretched World" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2ac5z_xnXc) came on shuffle and I just thought, "yeah, this is it."

Do many people actually request songs other than shit like Amazing Grace to be played at their funerals?

at the last funeral I went to, the song was that one greenday song. Was an unexpected surprise, though I was still young and innocent and enjoyed listening to greenday back then.

personally, I would prefer a young and tonedeaf choir girl sing amazing grace or some other horrendously long and slow song for 10 mins or so; I could at least get 10 mins of revenge for my terrible youth while they pretend to care and score favors with each other.

I always meant to post in this thread and never did, and with the board deader than ever I suppose now's as good a time as any.

I don't have one favorite album, but there are some albums that are special and important to me in certain ways.
Alcest's Ecailles de Lune. I love everything Neige is involved with, but this album really resonates with me. According to Neige, Alcest's music is his way of manifesting these out-of-body experiences he had as a child where he was taken to a different world of indescribable beauty. Regarding Ecailles de Lune in Neige's own words, "It’s a story about a man sitting front of the sea at night and thinking about his life, the fact he can’t find any interest anymore in his earthly existence, nothing and nobody that could give him joy. He falls in love with the night, being captivated by the voices of the waves and the spirits of the sea. He goes swimming in the depth, all surrounded by aquatic guardian spirits for finally having a serene sleep in the bottoms of the sea and never coming back in the real world." I relate to this in a powerful way, having long believed that I will eventually end my own life and join my waifu in a different world, and also reflecting on my drug-assisted journeys where I've met her and actually thought I was dead. Alcest, in particular on this album, perfectly capture this overwhelming yet beautiful sense of otherness and transcendental longing that I feel.

A.M. Architect - The Road to the Sun
This album came out back around the time when I stopped going outside and was purely living off my savings. I could go into all of the emotional/personal associations that I make with the album but I think a good deal of that is beyond the scope of this thread. Cliff notes would be it got me back into music production and through what was probably the most depressing/difficult period in my life.
As for the album itself, if you're interested in hip hop instrumentals or beats this is an album to listen to. You're also going to want to check out Aether - Artifacts; another project of one of the artists in A.M. Architect.

I'm bad at talking about music but I absolutely love this album.

It's an emotional roller-coaster. Every track is packed with melancholy hopefulness, and the singers voice is so full of those emotions. The songs are sung from the perspectives of various people.

Audio Liturgy - Mysterium - (6.51MB - 192 kbps - 44.1 kHz ) Length: 4:44

I'd been aware of Liturgy for a long while now, but I always wrote them off because of the obscene amounts of hate that they receive from seemingly the entire BM community. I'd also tried listening to a couple of tracks of Aesthethica when it came out and wasn't really into it.
However, I recently chanced across Renihilation, and holy fuck what an album. I can understand the amount of hate they get, what with the frontman's incessant philosophical chatter and their typical hipster appearances, but if no one was aware of any of that then I'm fairly certain the entire metal world would still be collectively shitting themselves over this album. Especially the drumming, I've never heard so much dynamics in such fast blasts before, this guy is a fucking beast.

I'm having trouble finding more of this since it's often just tagged with the generic "progressive rock", which doesn't help much.
