I just finished reading Virgin na Kankei today, which is okay. About a guy that has sex with some girl, then finds out that that girl is his interviewer for a job the next day. It's okay, but it seems a tad unrealistic with how tons of girls throw themselves on him. It isn't a typical harem thing, though, as he actually has sex with pretty much every one of them.

It's not all that grand a manga, though.

Personally, one I'm really interested in is Sankarea, which is about a zombie-enthusiast that tries to make a potion to bring back the dead. It's really good, in my opinion.

Kabu no Isaki (6 chapters)
Hand x Red (9 chapters)

Seems like whatever I start reading, I never get any more of..

I started reading Soul Eater. It's a shonen that has no pretenses; the reader is just thrown into a series of battles. I dunno, it's got the typical shonen oscillation between awesome and aw-shucks.

I read the first two chapters of Sankarea. Pretty conventional art/style, unconventional premise. Feels like it doesn't have much room to grow though.

Moar Kabu no Isaki soon, I promise.

I just got up to the current volume of Berserk.

I really enjoyed the first volume, with its darkness and the complex character that Guts represented. For everything after that, my enjoyment level just went lower and lower. The story progressed slowly. It was predictable- Guts would go up and bash the shit out of some monsters, or maybe he would beat up an arrogant-talking huge human, and it'd happen over and over again for several chapters. I suppose this is to be expected from an action manga. I would've liked the story to take precedence over fighting though.

It got to the point where I got bugged whenever I saw Griffith's face, or whenever anyone says how great and charismatic emotionless-faced Griffith is.

In hindsight I think I went through those 33 volumes simply for the sake of procrastinating. I don't really have the energy to pay attention to new releases so Im dropping the thing.

Currently trying to make more of a conscious effort to sit down and read some more Tezuka, since there's so many of his stuff I barely even know about (pic is from Alabaster). You know, aside from Ode to Kirihito, I honestly think Tezuka is best when not trying to do heavy-handed drama and doing something more light-hearted and exuberant. Never really cared much for his serious works all that much.

... Wait, there was plot in Berserk?

I'm not crazy about manga so even though I occasionally read something my powerlevel is relatively low in this department BUT I'm 99% positive that I won't ever read anything as overrated as Berserk. I don't really get why it's so popular and - more importantly - highly rated. In my opinion it's pretty much your average grimdark fest with lots of guts flying around, innocent people getting killed left and right, religious zealots impaling people, rape every now and then etc. I don't particulary mind it as long as it's not all there is to a story but it definitely seems to be the case here. Somehow I get the feeling that it appeals to younger audiences more.
I kept reading it thinking 'it does get better, right?' to myself but in the end, it never got better. Dropped it after 132 chapters. If I had to rate it on 10 point scale I wouldn't give it more than a 6.

Then again, I might have grown tired of series that resolve around fighting. I also dropped Vagabond after 107 chapters (but to defend it I've got to say that Vagabond's art is simply spectacular) and I read the first volume of Claymore yesterday and again, it failed to grab my attention.

>>327

Since you're reading it I assume you already read Ressentiment. That's what I'm currently reading. When it comes to short series of this sort I prefer to wait until they are completely scanlated. I've got to say, I'm highly impressed thus far. Great, unique art (it's not you random shounen/shoujo mangaka #342) and I can relate to the story (obviously). After I'll finish this I'll definitely check out his other works.

Finished reading Miman Renai a few hours ago.
Basically, it's a 5 volume-long story about a 30-year old virgin who falls in love with a 13-year old middle school student. However, this is not a story about a lolicon. I read Ressentiment in February and Miman Renai is nothing like that. In Ressentiment Takuro sexualizes Tsukiko all the time (actually he spends ~90% of his time thinking about it) while the mere idea of doing anything to Tomoe doesn't even occur to Kurose. As much as I hate to use this word his feelings for Tomoe are 100% pure.

You need to know one thing: this story is silly and when I say silly I mean [i]really[i/] silly. The characters are not the least bit realistic and nature of their relationship is downright ridiculous. And yet, I was smiling like a retard the whole way through. Tomoe is really cute and Kurose is socially inept and has a very low self esteem which scored him lots of points on my sympathy-o-meter.

It's hard to write more, really. The art is decent but nothing special. It has a shoujo-esque feel to it. I'm not much of a researcher so I can't say this for sure but apparently this is the first serialized manga by Takashima Hiromi - a great debut in my opinion. It's a heart-warming story that I recommend to anyone who doesn't mind silly stuff. However, you should be careful with the dosages unless you don't mind getting diabetes.

-

There's one thing that's been bothering me for a while. Basically, we have two samey threads. What I think would be the best solution is to write about stuff that finished it's serialization in one thread and ongoing series in the other. Also, since /ma/ hardly gets any posts I think it would be better if you'd forget about the 'recently/now' part. Feel free to recommend/advise to stay from manga that you finished reading years ago. God knows this board could use a little more traffic.

Oh yeah, and as for the ongoings thread I think it would be nice to list every series you're following and write 2-3 sentences about it.

Opinions?

Hopefully this will catch on. If not... Oh well, it's not like we can do anything about it it can't be helped.

I promised myself I'll post here whenever I'll finish reading anything so here you go.

Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai is a volume long story about a girl who has an imaginary cellphone in her head. The thing is, one day she is called by someone. Can't really tell you much more as it's short and I don't want to spoil it.

Written by Otsuichi (who writes novels and since I'm not well versed in that area I can't really say I've heard about him before; as for his notable works I have to mention 'Goth' - even I heard about it), art by Kiyohara Hiro (another guy I've barely heard about). The story was adapted several times (there's even a movie adaptation)... and I'm not so sure why. I mean, it definitely isn't bad but I'm not so sure whether I'd call it good. It was... short. That's about all I can say. Had it been a little longer it could've been more interesting but maybe it was better to bring it to a closure so quickly.
The art is surprisingly good. I'm posting a random page from the manga so you can judge it yourself. I might check some other manga drawn by Kiyohara later.

... That's all I guess. If the premise sounds interesting to you then check this out. If not I don't think you're missing out on anything spectacular.

Its a shame that /ma/ is less active than /an/. I feel that manga is the superior medium. Anime is a high budget affair, it needs big teams and often pacing is deliberately slowed down to extend the length of an episode.

Add Chronicles of the Clueless Age to that list. Although I'm not sure exactly how much can be attributed to Otsuichi (since Furuya Usamaru also co-wrote the story, not to mention doing the art), it's a fantastic collection of stories about your typical teenage problems (such as dieting, falling out with friends, being a social outcast, etc) but with FANTASTIC execution. Just go read it to see what I mean.

>Its a shame that /ma/ is less active than /an/. I feel that manga is the superior medium.

Well, I dislike it when people claim x is better than y (especially in cases such as this - I feel that the difference between anime and manga is big enough to make such comparisons pointless) but if I had to point a single board that I wish would get more traffic it would definitely be /ma/, especially since (as you already mentioned) /an/ is quite active. I can hardly imagine creating separate threads for different series around here (although I do plan to start one after last chapter of Usagi Drop gets released).

But that's why I'm gonna post here whenever I'll finish a series! Even if it will be only one person per 5 posts if I make someone read something it's worth it.

Oh, I didn't even realize he worked on it.
I usually read all short manga scanlated by Hox as I plain like the stuff he picks (Stardust Memories, Palepoli). Hox and Kotonoha are two 'groups' I trust enough to read the manga even if the plot summary doesn't catch my attention.

>God's Child

I fucking love the Nishioka Siblings (I've always wondered who does the art and who does the story? maybe they do both?) and was ecstatic to hear Kotonoha start it. They're almost done with the volume (I think?) so I'll probably wait for the whole thing to be out before I read it.

Also on a heads up, Nishioka siblings' only other scanlated work, Journey to the End of the World, will probably get finished in the near future so you should go try that out too. That one's a hilariously bizarre comedy (especially the pirate chapter).

>Speaking of Kotonoha I might read God's Child soon (maybe even tomorrow); naturally, I'll post here after finishing it.

Took me a little longer than I expected it would but I didn't feel like reading it until now.

It's another one volume long manga, so there is not much I want to say about the story. Then again, how the story unfolds and ends is rather unimportnant here. If you want to know what's it's about let me make it short: it's a story about a sick fuck. I could use some euphemisms here but I don't feel like it. 'Sick fuck' is a quite befitting description in this case.

As I said, manga like God's Child are not about story. They're about impact, about creating a particular atmosphere and evoking particular feelings in reader. In this case I think the aim was to make you feel disgusted.

I'm not so sure whether Nishioka siblsings succeeded. In a way, yes. But the moments where I felt like turning the page quickly in hopes I'll forget about what I've read were achieved by really cheap methods. I feel that the right mood wasn't there. Also, if you start your manga the way they did you have to come up with something really grand to shock your reader. I'm not sure if they even tried - if they really did they failed rather miserably as I didn't even notice.

The art is nice. I like authors who have their own, unique style. The downside of such artstyle is that you can't really keep using it in all your works. It's nice to see it once as it feel fresh but over time the novelty is bound to wear off so I hope they came up with something else in their other works.

The whole story ends in a rather uniteresting way. I felt that the two page spread at the end had the right impact but if I think about the writing itself it was a rather unclimatic way to finish the story. It didn't feel like much of an end, really. Then again they did try to make it a little open-ended but it was hardly convincing. It might seem contradictory but after reading it you'll know what I meant.

Overall it's another story I can't recommend to everyone. If the theme iterests you - check it out. If not - stay away. It's really been a while since I've read something I could recommend with a clear conscience.

His style in both art and storytelling is rather unique so I don't think you'll find anything strongly resembling Pun Pun. Your best bet would probably some single-volume stories or short story compilations even.

Edit: I haven't read it but I see Ciguatera compared to Pun Pun quite often and since it's drawn by Furuya Minoru I can see it being true.

From the begining, everybody expected a Nice Boat ending; wich wouldn't have been bad either, but it turned out quite differently and in a very personal way. Sometimes it got a bit slow (focusing merely on ero) but, at the end, I really enjoyed it all, a lot: it was overall good, if you like the genre (incest).

Also: Haruhi knows when the OVAs or series will be finished (if ever), but the OST has been ready out there for a while now; it is a quality one, as well, and good to accompany the reading of the manga:

That being said, the premise, like Esuno's two previous works, is interesting enough though I'm almost certain detractors will point out it's too similar to Future Diary since both feature your average high school boy who obtains superpowers and will set out on a path where he will end up changing the fate of the world. However, I think that's simplifying other aspects too much and not really valid, kind of like how if you cross out enough names of characters/settings and speak in general terms, Harry Potter is the same as Star Wars, Matrix, etc. I mean, you'd be stupid to think Jojo part 3 is the same shit as One Piece just because the main character is a teenage boy with supernatural powers who finds friends/comrades over the course of his journey which will change the fate of their respective worlds. In any case, I just hope the execution of said plot will be much much better this time.

And speaking of Jojo, I'm definitely getting some vibes of Jojo-esque fights because of these stand-like monsters. If there's one thing I enjoyed about Future Diary other than batshit-insane Yuno, it was those fights where the characters actually used the strengths and weaknesses of their unique abilities to gain the upper hand. So here's to hoping that there'll be more of that and less POISONED TOMATOES (though to be frank, I enjoyed the latter a lot as well).

Thanks for letting me know, I didn't know he was making a new one. You're right about the art, those faces are identical to the Mirai Nikki characters.

I actually was expecting it to be more similar, but it's pretty different. It looks like it'll be pretty good.

And the MC's power will lead to a lot of mind control doujins...

Reminds me of a manga that started in Afternoon a few months ago called Icon. Guy finds a floor-tile-ish thing that gives him the ability to control people and see their thoughts (literally written on their bodies). Art's a bit weird but I really ought to get around to reading it.

I'm just now starting to read manga at a serious level, since my computer currently has no sound device, and I would rather just read manga than watch anime with no sound. The main 2 things I'm currently reading are K-on and Rozen Maiden. I have to say, the K-on manga is much better than it's adaptation. Manga comedy just doesn't translate all to well into anime format in my opinion.

That I agree with which is way I kinda regret watching S1 in the first place (sure enough, all the shit parts of S1 - like Azusa forced drama - weren't in the manga in the first place) and have no regrets about not watching S2, despite everybody and their mom telling me just how much better S2 was compared to S1.

I've become interested in Manga again, so I'll probably do lots of reading for a week or so then quit for 8~ months

So I just finished reading one called "Reset", it is about people failing at life so they must reset it (suicide), they are brainwashed via videogames. It was meh, Started interesting and had a tohno quality to it, middle was nothing great had a few good inspirational quotes on the last page. About 300 pages in 6 volumes.

rating: If you have nothing to read, read it.

Also another compilation of various artists called "Secret Comics Japan," it's content was varied, most of it non-sense, though it also had some interesting things. Also it was kind of "alternative." 200 pages.

rating: There are a few gem moments in here, but you need an excellent crap filter to find it. Pass.

Magen Senki Cyber Momotarou - It is suppose to be a parody, not funny though, also gore. 200pgs rating:Pass

Icaro - It is about an areodynamic boy(he can fly), and about freedom. Not good, Boring and Predictable, also according to the cover this is supposed to be the most important manga ever because it was a french guy and a japanese guy working together, but if this is supposed to be the best of forienger/japan combos, I fear how bad the others are, but I know their is a Sandman comic drawn by the final fantasy drawer I imagine that is good. 200pgs PASS

Psycho Trader Chinami- Great, like a himawari(anime), read or die, and raildex combined. I am surprised it doesn't have anime (unless it does, I didn't check) 12 chapters ~35-50 pages each, check it out.

I know exactly what you mean. I remember when I read Wuthering Heights and I was all, fuck this overdramatic romance but then when I read the Wuthering Heights arc of Glass Mask, I thought, fuck yes, Wuthering Heights! That was when I realized Glass Mask would forever be one of my favourite shoujo manga.

But the rageworthy thing about Glass Mask is that despite starting in 1976 , it's STILL ongoing because Miuchi Suzue took a 12 YEAR HIATUS. I recall hearing the reason for the hiatus having to do with her joining some weird religious cult but I'm not sure if that was ever officially confirmed by her.

Yeah, I think I'm fascinated by the mix of elements in Glass Mask. It _looks_ shoujo: starry-eyes, flowers, and a touch of emo. But the exposition is decidedly shonen, with all that leveling-up, training, having a strong rival, believing in yourself, etc. Every play serves as a natural story arc, and the literary qualities shine through.

Now I wonder how much an influence it's been on the "plucky heroine against the world" genre, cf. Happy!, Haruka 17.

Well, I had already read it all before... and I quite thoroughly enjoyed it! My only reason I had went back to it was due to two things:

- I had missed a few chapters.
- The place I was reading it didn't have the chapters there at all. It was only till someone mentioned it to me a week back that I had to go on a place that allowed me to read it all in correct order.

I'll probably read Sankarea next. I had read it before on a previous occasion, but I had dropped that due to not finding the story going anywhere at all.

I remember reading that ages ago, sometime in 2009 I think. I got to the part where they played that hot chairs game. I was some 5 chapters away from the conclusion of the arc but in the end I lost interest.

It's not bad but it kinda gets old after a while. The story felt like it's going nowhere and it was just a series of games which were kinda hit and miss.

Read Shissō Nikki (Disappearance Diary) yesterday. It's an autobiography of sorts even though the author himself states that he doesn't like the idea of publishing his own autobiography halfway through the book.

It's divided into three parts and while the 2nd and 3rd part aren't that interesting the first one is great. It's about his life as a more-or-less voluntary homeless. There's not much 'substance' to it but seeing how a guy who was married, had kids and had a not-so-bad job just walked out to buy cigs one day and didn't come back.

Centaur no Nayami/Centaur's Worries.

It takes a while to get used to seeing centaurs act like regular people, but it's pretty weird and feels like it could actually be some sort of alternate reality, especially with all of the species co-existing and living their lives as a regular human does.

I like it. The whole thing is pretty cute and interesting. I never would've thought that a manga on "monster" girls would exist like this. Unfortunately only a few species have been shown, but they're interesting none the less. The author does explain a lot of how things work in that world and how things are which is pretty interesting.

It was fair. The end was kind of rushed but enough, I guess.

[blogish shit:]
It's a bit like Clannad, in a way: a young guy who suceeded and did "the right thing" where I couldn't; though I still wonder if that really can be considered so ("the right thing") or not. I've pondered and pondered, building and discarding arguments and aproachings, as well as attempting different actions for many years; but the general wounded situation of women, which I've been related with in several ways in my life, is something that I simply can't seem to lead to an acceptable path (i.e. I can't romantically relate with women, period). Guess I really will never know; at least beacuse I don't even think I want to, at this point.

Read Banana Bread Pudding and Taiyou no Ijiwaru yesterday.

Banana Bread Pudding... Well, I can see why it's so polarizing. At the same time I have a hard time finding words to describe what I think about it. I felt that it wasn't meaty enough to plunge deeper into it and as a result I didn't really spend much time pondering the symbolism and the like but now that I'm done with it I think I underestimated it. I guess I can see why it's mentioned alongside Utena sometimes.

Taiyou no Ijiwaru is one of those things you downloaded so long ago you forgot it even existed. My PC is telling my I downloaded it in August 2011 but that doesn't sound very plausible. It's either the date of when I moved it from one my external hard drives to this PC or I simply redownloaded it.

... Anyway, it's great, definitely recommended. I read a lot of short story compilations and this one is one of the best I've read yet, definitely Top 5. Makes me wonder why it took me so much time to read it.

I'd really like to say more but it's a short story compliation, you can't really write much without spoling the stories. One thing I can say is that it's very even, normally I don't recommend whole compilations and I go with individual stories instead but I feel all 4 of them were worthwhile.

However, I agree with you about the farmland arc being less tedious being read as I read it. I really had no idea that it's been stuck like that for so long. I know that it's for Thorfinn's character development to make him a "good" person, but it really would've been boring to go through those chapters one by one with only mildly interesting things going on aside from the time where that guy cut off part of Thorfinn's ear

Prepare to rage.

As far as yuri manga is concerned I finished Moonlight Flowers recently. Ironically enough for a second I thought I shouldn't mention how much I liked it because it's like a cheesy melodrama from the 80s. Except then I recalled 95% of manga out there is still way worse than that.

So yeah, it was superb. I started reading it shortly after midnight, planning to read one chapter only and then finish it the other day. By 1:30 AM I was done with the whole thing (I'm a slow reader, I let the art sink in a little) and I wanted to go to sleep way earlier that day. Very engrossing, even though you can see the ending from a mile away. Recommended, very much so.

You're right. I just finished reading it and the whole thing does pick up steam once they arrive in India. My negative first impression might have been influenced by the shit quality of the scans.

Then again, there really were to many filler fights for my taste, though thats to be expected seeing as this part is longer than the first two combined.

Ending was somewhat anti-climactic though, how come Dio is the big villain when there were much more powerful enemies in part two? He is just a fairly regular stone mask vampire.
A bit of back story on the stands wouldnt have hurt either.

I remember seeing the commercial before I started reading it and no idea what was for. It'd be great if the anime was like that, but it will probably be a while until it even gets an anime.

How it ended, actually.

I know that as much as I may not want it to, all good things usually end, so that isn't as bad. It's still sad, yeah, but it had a good run. 301 chapters, not to mention all the anime episodes, is more than a lot get.

Finished Samurai Highschool. Surprisingly enjoyable.

It's an episodic gender bender shounen series that reminded me heavily of stuff by Inoue Kazurou (Ai Kora, Midori no Hibi). No deep storyline, no real plot, a rather basic premise.
It's fun due to a pretty big cast of likeable characters. Not many laughs to be had maybe but it has this mysterious charm that makes you want to read another chapter or two but you can't really put your finger on the reason behind that.
I adore series like this because they remind me that not all shounen manga has to be bad.

... Kinda wanted to write more and encourage people to read at least a few chapters but it's hard to find something to write about. All I can say is that I feel that the mangaka knew exactly what he wants to do and he executed it perfectly.

Ketchup Ninja

Despite the fact that it's manga, it seems a bit too Western. It seems to retcon a lot of stuff and details as it goes on, even getting changing characters into less terrible ones.

It's kinda weird. It's not for everybody, and the art can get pretty bad, especially when they do the whole Western thing of adding unnecessary detail to certain characters and then suddenly switching back to a Japanese art style.

I see nothing wrong with childhood friends being killed off, then the character who's friend with the character telling the other guy to shut up and reassess their reason for being there and that was an idiot for being there. They're just shitty people you've known for far too long and probably without wanting to have known them.

Also, the manga shouldn't be filled with mindless action, the ongoings on earth and the knowledge of the animals help with keeping track of what's going on and what is possible. There's a whole lot going on.

I just read the first volume of Pupa (picrelated), which so far is very good despite the characters having very exaggerated personalities, which robs it of the believability that Saya no Uta has going for it.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find raws for anything beyond vol. #1 of this manga, so I've had to put this series on hold for now.

Some guy on 4chan's /a/ posted a few chapters of Donyatsu in English. Seems pretty fun, but unfortunately I couldn't find decent raws for it via a quick google search, and I can't use Share or PD at the moment due to network issues. They also don't have this series on YesAsia, which means I'd have to go through Amazon.co.jp, who charge exorbitant sums for shipping to Europe.

I started reading Claymore a few days ago and got really into it, blasting through 3 volumes per day. I actually found it hard to stop. I'm usually not into stories that revolve around fighting, but maybe it's because of nostalgia, seeing how Claymore was one of the first animes I saw back in the day as a teenager, with English subtitles. And I still remember how unsatisfying and open the ending was, yet the sequel never came (the manga is still ongoing, now at chapter 130 or something). I think I'll actually buy the volumes from volume #10 onwards, because a big part of what draws me into the series is the art, which looks better on paper, especially seeing how for most of the volumes I only have shitty scans where two-page artworks are not merged into a single image file. I don't have money to spare right now though, so this will have to wait until next year.

I also just read the first volume of Showa Vampire (昭和不老不死伝説 バンパイア). Not sure if I'll continue with this. The premise is great, the plot is decent enough, but the shitty art (in a manga with sex scenes in every second chapter!) and lack of furigana combine to make it a less enjoyable experience for me than it could be.

Just loaded up my phone with all volumes of Stray Little Devil, Death Note and Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunnally, all of which are easy-to-read shonen manga that I started reading back when I began learning Japanese, but never got around to finishing. In fact, I actually imported all 13 volumes of Death Note back then, but had to discard half of them unread when I moved out of my old flat and had a strict limit on how much stuff I could take with me. I suppose I'll be busy with these for the next couple of weeks, although I'm not sure if I'll actually finish Nunnally.

All You Need Is Kill

This manga is based on a novel and stuffs, and it seems that a lot of people like it, it has a high chance of being good. What I've read from it seems to be pretty decent. There are only 6 chapters out, though.

I finished reading Usagi Drop. I really really liked the first part, although the second part did drag a little, and the ending felt rushed.

actual spoilers: I really wish Daikichi hooked up with Kouki's mom. She seemed like a really good match and all the sexual tension between them seemed to be pushing towards that ship, so I was a bit disappointed when I heard she was going to remarry to someone else. At the very least I expected them to begin cohabiting after Kouki and Rin became grown ups.

Also I found Rin liking Daikichi to be highly unrealistic, due to the Westermarck effect, and grandpa not being the real dad a big asspull.

I respect the author's bravery in making an unconventional ending, and I appreciate that there are always problems when writing, but I just feel the second half had bad writing, and wasn't as well planned because maybe it was thought up along the way.

Rin was too old for the Westermarck effect to take place. She was already 6 and the Westermarck effect operated from ages 0 to 6.
Or at least this would be the case if the Westermarck effect is a real thing and not just learned behavior as many sociologists believe nowadays.

Read first 25 chapters of Natsu no Zenjitsu. I love it.

This author has drawn Koi Kaze before which is kinda well known and kinda acclaimed but it did nothing for me. On top of that I plain don't care about romance series period. But Natsu no Zenjitsu has that special something that makes you want to keep turning the pages. On top f that the art is really, really good - he improved a lot compared to his Koi Kaze days.
I kinda feel it's a bit like Norwegian Wood except I didn't like Norwegian Wood, heh.

-Highly- recommended if you like (seinen) romance. And probably worth giving a shot even if you don't.

What a shame. The site has been since forever, I genuinely don't remember using anything besides it to grab the manga. Going to individual groups' sites will be a massive pain in the ass, especially since mangaupdates removed the links after gettin C&D'd (kinda). How awful.

After watching the OVAs on Youtube I decided to give Devilman a go, and I'm through the original 5 volumes now. Overall it was pretty entertaining, despite being fairly predictable and requiring a lot of suspension of disbelief. The second half doesn't really make good use of the potential of that particular doomsday scenario, and the way the witchhunts started was illogical as fuck.
The manga is half a century old, so it was somewhat difficult to read due to using a lot of old Japanese slang that I'm not familiar with.
The ending was pretty weak apart from Satan's last monologue, but that seems to have been rectified by Amon Apocalypse, which is what I'm reading right now.

Fucking shit, I really want to know the ending of this (dropped by the scanlanator to punish manga aggregator sites). I've been looking for places to buy the original or at least for some spoiler stub that says how it ends, but I've found nothing. My last hope is that it might get licensed someday in french, italian or german like other works from the same author.

For the record: unlike most fans I fucking adore Yu (the mother); she's drop dead gorgeous and knows how to love truly, that is, madly.

Guess what? in that other universe, Hato became a famous mangaka and got a boob job (still in love with Madarame). As for Yajima, she finally got thin and stuck with him somehow.

Not really your fault. The term is used incorrectly quite often. It all started when some Western manga fans thought it'd be nice to have two terms for yuri depending on how explicit the content is, just like yaoi has yaoi and shounen ai. The thing they didn't realize is that the term shoujo ai already existed and it meant something entirely else. It spread like wildfire however so it's still kinda popular.

Just finished Zettai Reiiki. It was OK, had a good joke every 30 pages or so throughout the series.

Now I'm reading NHK ni Youkoso, and I also started watching the anime in parallol after I was done with the first 4 volumes.

Read a generic and cliche shoujo called Taiyou no Ie. I was ready to drop it a few chapters before the end. It threw in the most pointless and unnecessary drama and there was only one way it would turn out. It was tying up a lose end that wasn't even a lose end.

It was okay overall. Nothing special as far as shoujo series go. Had it cut the ending up a bit, it would have been better.

Mahou Tsukai no Yome

It's pretty good if you want some decent fantasy with a developing plot and some comfy moments.

Involves a girl with the ability to see the magical realm (who also has magical aptitude) who is sold to a magus and her growth as an apprentice and as a person (as well as his in his own way.)

Good read, ongoing and not a ton of chapters so far so it's not overbearing.

That would have been a massive improvement.

I read the Final Fantasy XII manga. The art couldn't decide if it's good or not but it had some added backstory.
Caught up on 14-sai no Kai, which would be so much better if the pairing with the creepy sex-offender teacher and the male student were removed. She's such a leech.

The first chapters were fine, just what I was expecting from it. But now halfway through it's "otakus" talking about cartoons and videogames, goth lolis and elves getting dressed up after reading hentai in that akihabara place and generally the most boring pandering I've seen, this is really fucking stupid and disappointing. Hopefully it doesn't continue this way.
Also seems like I messed up editing the post, made a new one instead.

I finished Homunculus. I didn't have any idea what it was about when I started. Probably more enjoyable if you enjoy that sort of thing because I don't really feel strongly about it at all, which is weird considering how bizarre it was. Finished reading Koharu no Hibi (spoilers further down). I didn't like how at the end Koharu's problems did not get solved. I expected the MC to teach her how to control herself, but I guess the MC learning to accept her for who she is is okay too. Overall a cute manga. Koharu is cute but sometimes she goes too far. She does things which doesn't even make sense if she cares for the MC's wellbeing. But if the manga was just Koharu doing cute things it would be boring because there was no complication to resolve. I wish more yanderes would focus on the obsessive love bit without having the killing the person they love bit.

I also find it interesting how nicely developed the characters are given the short amount of time the manga had to work with. Akira Torii isn't your typical romance protagonist. He doesnt' take shit from people. He hits people for being an idiot and not the other way around. He also has a semblance of intelligence. Hes not a passive as fuck beta who becomes dumbstruck in every ecchi situation. Its interesting to see his transformation from one who is offput my Mutsuki's occasional excessive overflow of love, to one who became dependant on her and accepting of her flaws. Also the onee-san chick is funny, and I totally bet shes a 'ara-ara' type chick but it just got lost in the translation. And the silent dude that follows the onee-san everywhere, when he says that he'll step in if Koharu goes over the line again, you get the feeling that hes a man of few words but still a total bro. Really the only person which irritates me in the manga is that middle-school girl.

I caught up with Boku Dake ga Inai Machi. It's okay but I'm annoyed at the direction because it was so painfully obvious who the murderer was that I actually thought it was a red herring because 'it's so obvious, it couldn't have been them. The author isn't that simple'. There was legitimately nobody else to suspect.
The main character is also rather simple; he concentrates on trying to protect the victims instead of trying to figure out who the murderer is, like they won't just change targets. He kept noting the murderer had to know the setting but never thought to actually suspect people or try to investigate.
The good side of it is that the characters are pretty interesting but the criminal aspect is so basic. I hope it starts winding down soon because if they stretch out this part it'll get frustrating real soon.
