I've started reading Stretch today. It's a very enjoyable manga that is mainly shoujo ai revolving around stretching.
>> No. 2273 [Edit]

The term you're looking for is 'yuri'. 'Shoujo ai' is an euphemism for pedophilia.

>>2273
Oh, well, pardon me for the mistake, I seem to have misunderstood the term.
>> No. 2275 [Edit]
>>2274

Not really your fault. The term is used incorrectly quite often. It all started when some Western manga fans thought it'd be nice to have two terms for yuri depending on how explicit the content is, just like yaoi has yaoi and shounen ai. The thing they didn't realize is that the term shoujo ai already existed and it meant something entirely else. It spread like wildfire however so it's still kinda popular.

Just finished Zettai Reiiki. It was OK, had a good joke every 30 pages or so throughout the series.

Now I'm reading NHK ni Youkoso, and I also started watching the anime in parallol after I was done with the first 4 volumes.
Overall the manga is better, but you just gotta love the voice work of Misaki-chan's seiyuu.

I've been distant ever since it finished so I didn't know, but in November an extra stage of Evangelion was released: the back story of Mari...

Finished Majo to Houki to Kurobuchi Megane. It's really nice yuri 4koma series. Pretty short, 3 vols. Good art, likeable characters, surprisingly funny gags (I've gotten used to dull 4komas, haven't I). Strongly recommended if you like yuri and/or 4komas.

Read a generic and cliche shoujo called Taiyou no Ie. I was ready to drop it a few chapters before the end. It threw in the most pointless and unnecessary drama and there was only one way it would turn out. It was tying up a lose end that wasn't even a lose end.

It was okay overall. Nothing special as far as shoujo series go. Had it cut the ending up a bit, it would have been better.

Mahou Tsukai no Yome

It's pretty good if you want some decent fantasy with a developing plot and some comfy moments.

Involves a girl with the ability to see the magical realm (who also has magical aptitude) who is sold to a magus and her growth as an apprentice and as a person (as well as his in his own way.)

Good read, ongoing and not a ton of chapters so far so it's not overbearing.

That would have been a massive improvement.

I read the Final Fantasy XII manga. The art couldn't decide if it's good or not but it had some added backstory.
Caught up on 14-sai no Kai, which would be so much better if the pairing with the creepy sex-offender teacher and the male student were removed. She's such a leech.
Started reading Bungo Stray Dogs, which is nothing special but enjoyable so far.
>> No. 2417 [Edit]
I just finished reading Riki-Oh.

It starts with a guy going to prison and fighting people. Boy does it go places from that rather simple beginning.
>> No. 2420 [Edit]
I'm reading gate
The first chapters were fine, just what I was expecting from it. But now halfway through it's "otakus" talking about cartoons and videogames, goth lolis and elves getting dressed up after reading hentai in that akihabara place and generally the most boring pandering I've seen, this is really fucking stupid and disappointing. Hopefully it doesn't continue this way.
Also seems like I messed up editing the post, made a new one instead.

Well I just started reading bitter virgin. Judging by the title i thought it'd be some kind of romcom, but i was sorrowfully mistaken. I'm 8 chapters in. So far its pretty good

I finished Homunculus. I didn't have any idea what it was about when I started. Probably more enjoyable if you enjoy that sort of thing because I don't really feel strongly about it at all, which is weird considering how bizarre it was. It ticked a lot of boxes, good art, decent characters, plot and premises were fine but something didn't work.

Started reading Gintama. Funnier than I thought it would be.

Finished reading Koharu no Hibi (spoilers further down). I didn't like how at the end Koharu's problems did not get solved. I expected the MC to teach her how to control herself, but I guess the MC learning to accept her for who she is is okay too. Overall a cute manga. Koharu is cute but sometimes she goes too far. She does things which doesn't even make sense if she cares for the MC's wellbeing. But if the manga was just Koharu doing cute things it would be boring because there was no complication to resolve. I wish more yanderes would focus on the obsessive love bit without having the killing the person they love bit.

I also find it interesting how nicely developed the characters are given the short amount of time the manga had to work with. Akira Torii isn't your typical romance protagonist. He doesnt' take shit from people. He hits people for being an idiot and not the other way around. He also has a semblance of intelligence. Hes not a passive as fuck beta who becomes dumbstruck in every ecchi situation. Its interesting to see his transformation from one who is offput my Mutsuki's occasional excessive overflow of love, to one who became dependant on her and accepting of her flaws. Also the onee-san chick is funny, and I totally bet shes a 'ara-ara' type chick but it just got lost in the translation. And the silent dude that follows the onee-san everywhere, when he says that he'll step in if Koharu goes over the line again, you get the feeling that hes a man of few words but still a total bro. Really the only person which irritates me in the manga is that middle-school girl.

After having Citrus pretty much pinned to my Amazon recommendations for the past year, I decided to cave in and give it a try.
I really wasn't expecting it to be my cup of tea, as I don't consider myself a particular fan of yuri or romance, but I'm more than pleasantly surprised. I'm only 3 chapters in, but so far the story and characters definitely did manage to hook me. The art is pretty good too.

I caught up with Boku Dake ga Inai Machi. It's okay but I'm annoyed at the direction because it was so painfully obvious who the murderer was that I actually thought it was a red herring because 'it's so obvious, it couldn't have been them. The author isn't that simple'. There was legitimately nobody else to suspect.
The main character is also rather simple; he concentrates on trying to protect the victims instead of trying to figure out who the murderer is, like they won't just change targets. He kept noting the murderer had to know the setting but never thought to actually suspect people or try to investigate.
The good side of it is that the characters are pretty interesting but the criminal aspect is so basic. I hope it starts winding down soon because if they stretch out this part it'll get frustrating real soon.

Finished reading Gantz and found it largely mediocre. Couldn't help but imagine some resentful, horny teenager wrote it. My favorite part was probably the Italian mission, which felt more hopeless to me than anything in the final arc.

Kodoku Experiment is certainty the most action-oriented Yukinobu Hoshino manga I've read. It feels much more inspired by Alien this time around, unlike his other science fiction works. Was well worth the read.
