Normalfag anime fans, or as I like to call them "ironicweebs" don't know anything outside of the likes of jojo, dragonball, demon slayer, etc. They rarely add anything to their short list, with the most recent addition being chainsaw man.
There's a few characters like Cirno who have some level of popularity with normies, but half of them probably never played the games.

I wouldn't call them "ironic". A shallow interest in something is still an interest. They might tinge that interest with a layer of irony because liking anime still has some negative connotations to it, and that's their way of compensating. They aren't interested in "otaku culture", in a larger sense. Pretending there's a black and white divide between "real" and "fake" fans seems like an over-simplification to me.

Not that anon, but I find "shallow fans" to be disrespectful to the creators with their quirky quips and whatnot. I just tend to avoid them since there's no point in getting worked up about it.
