Tabletop Simualtor is a piece of software that lets you play tenths of thousands of board games uploaded to Steam Workshop.

Recently we formed a small TTS group on /tc/'s IRC. So far we gathered 8 people, though some of them have more time and some less. I'd have to lie to say we've been playing regularly but we try to get something going on weekends at very least. And it'd be even easier to organize games with a bigger playerbase.

Right now the game is on sale at greenmangaming.com for 10USD. It's a fair price; it never goes for less than 8USD, 20 being the 'standard' price (though it's on sale about half the time). The game has DLC for select games but you never need to bother with those, so once you get Tabletop Simulator itself you're set. Right now the workshop has 12,741 mods tagged as 'board game', 9,562 tagged as 'card game' and 8,928 tagged as 'strategy game', so there's plenty to pick from.

Those numbers may look intimidating but don't worry if you're completely new to the hobby. We've got some vets and if you'll want to play you'll get provided with a short (typically less than 10 mins) rules video to watch and a rulebook in text form. After watching (or reading) that you'll be good to go.

If you happen to be interested and you've got questions ask away on our IRC.

The Greenmangaming sale was something of a flash sale and ended in no time but don't worry, you missed nothing since TTS will be on sale at fanatical.com for a week for 9USD.

I like how you can draw on the table.

Time for an update.

So far we've played 17 different games by my count, so we're doing alright as far as that's concerned. Unfortunately meeting up has been an issue. Organizing things ad hoc turns into a mess of 'I'll be free in an hour' followed by 'ah I'm running late, give me 30 mins more' to which others respond with 'no good, I don't have that much time left, gotta leave in an hour' et cetera. There were several occassions where we spent like 3h trying to organize a single 60 min board game, heh.

As such from now on we plan to meet up once, maybe twice a week at same day, same time every week. The two most likely candidates are either Saturday or Sunday at 19 GMT. Additionally Fridays around midnight GMT are an otpion.

For the time being we plan to meet up on Saturday the 16th at 19 GMT. Hopefully the turnout will be solid and we'll be able to settle on something permanent.
If anybody is interested don't feel shy, hop on IRC and join us.

>Saturday the 16th
Of course the 15th was meant, cause the 16th is a Sunday. Whoops. Sorry about that.

So let me try that again: Saturday the 15th, at 19GMT.

We've been meeting on every Sunday at 19GMT but lately there's been some talk about changing the time. I'll post an update if we'll agree to something.

After a longer break our group has resumed meeting up regularly. Our new meetup time is 22GMT on Sundays. If any of you are interested drop by on IRC; the overwhelming majority of games we play is so easy the rules can be explained 5 minutes before the game.

By my count it's been 13 weeks since we set the new time and we managed to play something on 12 of those so we're doing pretty well. We've played over 25 different board games by now. Don't be afraid of the new kid on the block syndrome, we don't play anything that's too complex to explain right before the game.

Looks like someone was board of that game.

Not sure if I'm not just replying to the person who drew that to begin with but here goes anyway.
Since most of the games we play are new to almost everybody in the group there are times when there's a lot of downtime for other players because somebody is thinking about their options or plain confused about some rules. That's inevitable with new games. Eventually we'll get past that point when people will familiarize themselves more with the games. For now we can be grateful there are some ways of killing that downtime (like doodling).

We're still playing on Sundays, at 23GMT. Newcomers welcome.

After a few weeks worth of break the group will start meeting up to play games again, starting today! The 'new' time is 22GMT, we're still playing on Sundays, and as per usual newcomers are welcome.
