All this letter is saying is "If you were smart enough or capable of doing the sort of thing you dream about, you would have already done it and would have a specific idea in mind. Inaction is a merely mentally protective mechanism to prevent the realization of your own limits in order to save your self esteem. Either you're too stupid, too much of a coward, or both. By my estimation you seem to be both." Not exactly the sort of thing that "giving it your best" would really seem to be able to alleviate.
There are people capable of dreaming great things who then do them, it's not some sort of rule of the universe that "reality is gonna kill your dreams" just because one mouse in the lab isn't able to make his way out of the maze. I'm not saying you should kill yourself if you're not one of these people, but you should definitely curse your fortunes if you're just conscious enough to understand this but not enough to do anything about it.
