I've posted pictures before of this hand puppet but now I'm going to try and write a "review" of sorts. Most of this is taken from the review I wrote on my blog, not a whole lot here is different from that one.
There isn't a whole lot for me to say because the last time I owned a hand puppet was way back when I was a child if my memory serves correctly. I will start off by saying that this puppet is very smooth and soft to the touch, as would be expected from a stuffed doll, and I am going to post a picture in a high resolution so that you can have a closer look at the fabric for yourself. It's mostly accurate to Kaban as she appears in the show but the gloves are brown instead of black for some reason, possibly to make it more colorful and easier for kids to appreciate.
The embroidery is very nice. The quality of it looks very good to me with the exception of the eyeshine, just a tiny bit of the dark blue eyes show right behind it. The case of brown being favored over black is also present around her eyes, on her eyelashes, eyebrows, the fold of the eyelid, and her mouth.
Everything else that is colored, lines on the shirt, lines around the hat, the feather, and the line acting as a dividing line between her shorts legs, are shown in ink put on the fabric. The upside down triangle shape that shows her skin and her undershirt is also made of ink and not a fabric or anything.
Most of the fabric for the puppet is a fabric which feels very smooth but it uses one that has a slight shine to it when light hits it and the hair does the same. However, it is very difficult for me to notice. It is easier to notice on the shirt on the back of the head.
The gloves feel slightly more coarse than the rest of the fabric, which seems to have the fibers go down and upwards strokes are met with resistance. Almost like velvet but much softer and less shiny.
The feather is the most coarse part of the plush, it looks to me like some kind of felt or foam that was nicely painted on, you'll find it may point forwards or backwards depending on which way it was pointing when it was packaged. The feather on this one points backwards though it doesn't show in the picture, unfortunately.
The hair is a very dark blue almost or a light black. The back of the head, as I mentioned earlier, has a very slight shine to it. The hair is a very soft fabric that I think might be held on in certain places by glue and not stitched into place, unfortunately. It's hard to notice unless you try lifting up certain parts of it and feeling there.
The hat itself isn't something attached to the head all around with stuffing thrown in there, it's a hat on it's own so if you like you could try and remove it. I'm not sure if it is held on by glue or stitched into place. The crown of the hat is some kind of foamy material, squishy and soft.
The inside of the puppet is mostly soft. The inside of the head looks kind of like some kind of nylon, it is white but the rest of it shares the same color with the shorts. It's not uncomfortable to keep your hand in there or anything, you can keep it on a while and do as you please.
The backpack is, sadly, not functional as a bag. It's just a soft cushion with a flap over it, there is not pocket to hold anything, it's kind of like a pillow with straps and a flap. The straps are cleanly cut and are stitched into the arm in the seam between the arms, only in one place for each strap. The flap is a simple cut of fabric, nothing more. Though I am sure it is possible to cut into the fabric and make one yourself by adding in a fabric to line a pocket or simply just remove the stuffing but I might not do that just now.
The puppet itself isn't the most maneuverable puppet, the body is quite wide with short arms. It's possible to make it grab stuff but to make it more expressive requires squishing it on itself.
Whenever I take pictures of the puppet I need to be careful to not show the bottom of my hand which shows whenever I put it on.
Overall the puppet is very nice to touch and look at and is kind of fun to just goof off with. I've tried making it strike some poses like one where Micheal Jackson grabs his hat and points his other arm up but it's somewhat difficult for poses like this and others, though possible, I just need to strain sometimes.
There are some other Kemono Friends puppets. Serval-san, Arai-san, Fennec, and the members of PPP but in the form of finger puppets. I only have Kaban but I would imagine the others are of a somewhat similar quality so if you like what you read and saw you can go ahead and get one of whichever character you like most or wait a while and hope that there will be more of friends you like.
