>I did try to give it a fair chance ignoring all the kadokawa drama.
Same, although it's hard to put that stuff out of mind completely. While I agree with all your points, I didn't hate the first ep. I also didn't love it. Like you said the character development is pretty horrible and it feels like there's no chemistry. It's all just so bland and shallow and simplistic like "Me serval, you kyururu, we go adventure now!" kyururu is so emotionless there's no way she's not a robot.
It's a bit disappointing they're going with a soft reboot but it's hardly surprising, that was the safest direction to go in for the franchise.
About the fps, I tried watching the second ep using SVP and even with that you can tell it's kind of jarring how the animation goes from smooth to rigid. and what the fuck is with the teapots? ...god damn I miss FenneKU and Araii-san.
I have to say, I feel the structure of their trip is very flawed and a mistake.
As of ep2, it looks like kyururu Made a crude drawing of every stop the tram goes to leading up to where she herself was found. Anyone with half a brain should be able to figure as much out, and as such if kyururu is trying to find her home, why not flip forward in the book and stay on the tram skipping some of the stops along the way? Feels less like an adventure and more like watching someone take a tour. I mean everything about ep2 seemed pointless, like there was no reason to get off at that stop. They didn't even really help the friends they met unlike in season one where Kaban and serval helped out the friends they met along the way in one form or another. The damn playground set fell apart in the end anyway. Who ever heard of full scale playground equipment that snaps together without any tools needed anyway?
In season one they had decent reasons for stopping too, such as wanting to rest, being stopped by guards on the road, or crashing into something. The very concept of a tram meanwhile is a mistake. There's no wrong turns or going off the path. It's simply a poor set up for random encounters. You literally travel on a fixed path to predetermined locations. There's not much mystery there, you just sit your ass down and let the thing take you to the end of the line, which is likely going to be the park's visitor center or park entrance.
