Have any of you ever played Yu-gi-oh before? I did for a brief period in my teens. Played in local tourneys, yet I never won any of them, sadly. Was a pretty decent player, my specialty deck was centered around Harpies. Those girls served me well.
I never played it myself, but all through high school my friends did play it alot.
Played it actively during my teen years. Very imbalanced game. Also ridiculous ban-lists. Still have my deck. Wonder if it's worth anything nowadays.
It's a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. I still have a run-down old deck from my younger years, which is basically a jumble of cards with no real strategy in mind. I also play the DS games once in a while.
I played this a bit in highschool, it didn't get particuarly popuplar (we were pokemon/magic people). I think my major issue with the game was the insane power creep(1800 4 star creatures, ok, OH SHIT 1850 NOW ALL YOUR CARDS ARE OBSOLETE THIS IS REQUIRED IN EVERY DECK AND IS $50 OR SOMETHING STUPID), an infinite amount of strictly better cards(seriously like 90% of all the printed cards were complete garbage), and lack of real deckbuilding options(no sort of color/faction stuff really just means you put your best 40 cards in a stack and play with it).
It was popular, but >>87 >>91 sums up why I don't play.
>we were pokemon/magic people Same here. I collected Magic but never played. Pokemon on the other hand was really nice and simple to get into. I played quite a few matches of that and I think I still have a few decks somewhere. I also remember getting a lot of hate later on because people of my age 'shouldn't' play these kind of card games so I kind of abandoned.
My Blackwing deck is pretty awesome. Anonymous is right about the game being mighty unbalanced, though. The mechanics, however, are extremely fluid and it's very fun to play. All the people that play it at my shop are fucking scumbags, though, so I don't really get the opportunity very often.
>>1534 oh god
used to play competitively, but that stopped being fun after a while (there were pretty much 3 types of deck that would always win, and they were all filled with super expensive cards). People are right when they say the game is kind of imbalanced... It's fun to play casually every once in awhile though.
I still play sometimes (started around 2000). I'm on and off various yugioh IRC channels (also the #tohno-chan channel). Ask me for a game (via duelingnetwork.com)! I hate the new stuff (Synchro, XYZ) and like fun decks.
But even more importantly, have any of you ever played Weiß Schwarz?
