33537 No. 33537 [Edit]
There were five Isekai anime airing last season and there are seven airing this season. It's getting worse.

Okay, now consider how there are 48 TV anime this season.

That's always been the case. I don't think you understand anime very much.

And? As long as a show is entertaining, I don't see the problem.

True, the problem is that many aren't and many gain nothing by being Isekai. Of the seven so far I have seen two and I've not liked them, I will try the two about the girls getting Isekaied next and see if they are good.

Yeah it is getting kind of tiring. The worst part is that both the characters and stories tend to be pretty bland for the majority of them, with the isekai aspect (and some RPG elements) largely feeling tacked on. The last one I actually enjoyed was Konosuba and that one is pretty much a satire.

At least we finally have a genuine fantasy series airing this season with Phantasy Star and so far it doesn't seem too bad.
>> No. 33546 [Edit]
>>33545
I mean, there's Granblue Fantasy as well, which is more high fantasy than PSO2 I'd think.
On that note, I don't know where people get Konosuba being a "satire" from. It's just comedic in tone.

I don’t know if this is the place for it but anything catch your eye this season that’s not worth making a thread for?

Null peta. Possibly the only good SoL this season (I'm not having high hopes for rifle is beautiful given the production issues)

Honzuki no Gekokujou and Watashi, Nouryoku wa Heikinchi de tte Itta yo ne! look alright, fist episode was just world building so too soon to tell if they will be that good or not.

Tenka Hyakken: Meiji-kan e Youkoso! and Rifle is life are the two others that looks like they may have potential (they could both go either way).

>>33553
Null Peta is alright but I don't like the 10 minute episodes.

I say go for it and don't think 'that' much about it.

>Rifle is life
I think you meant Rifle is Beautiful?

The first episode was kind of disappointing, almost the archetypical "generic SoL" where things happen, the girls are cute, but the characters don't really feel connected in any way. The pacing also felt a bit off, with them jumping from scene to scene and throwing in the usual clichéd tropes (tsundere, breasts, etc.). This is of course subjective, but given that it seems to lack any substantial comedy or intercharacter interactions, I'm not sure what they have in mind for the future (aside from competition arcs).

I stopped caring when I realized "Eromanga-sensei" exists. Anime is pretty much dead. The industry keeps going because people want to feel like they're a part of something.

>when I realized "Eromanga-sensei" exists
I've never understood why Eromanga Sensei in particular gets so much flack. Sure it's a harem imouto show, but there are dozens of others out there. It doesn't pretend to be anything deep or insightful, and it serves exactly what you read on the tin. The humor is quite good, and unlike some other shows like ImoImo, it actually has effort put into it (although the blame for ImoImo lies squarely on the producers, not the animators themselves who supposedly hadn't been receiving pay). And the imouto genre is still quite niche anyway, a far cry from the plethora of isekai shows.
>> No. 33609 [Edit]
>>33608
The only good thing about ImoImo is that it lead me to watch Sister Princess. That's been much more enjoyable.

What's wrong with that? I haven't gotten around to Eromanga just yet, but a lot of the complaints I've seen mirror ones people had about Oreimo (namely, moralizing), which I thought was a great series.

I don't enjoy stuff like Oriemo or Ero-manga sensei, but I love how it pushes out normalfags. It's great doujin material too. If anime is dead, I wanna fuck its corpse forever. I wouldn't stop if every last person on Earth stopped caring about it.
>> No. 33616 [Edit]
Eromanga-sensei is representative of the current situation for two reasons. First, it shows what's a safe choice to produce: it's pandering and box-checking bullshit that was tested five times before it was animated. The only reason anime isn't fully consumer-questionnaire-driven is because they don't have the money for in-house research. So what does the industry resort to instead? Copying and randomly combining popular characters and doujin starting points until the result sells enough and proves it's a safe investment.

Second, how trash it is is also representative. Can you imagine that the creators of Evangelion thought the anime of their time had regressed into surface aesthetic with no substance?

>Copying and randomly combining popular characters and doujin starting points until the result sells enough and proves it's a safe investment.
Wow its almost like its an industry or something. By your logic movies, books, tv, radio, music, food and every other consumer profit driven industry must be dead too. Most of anything is bad. If making stuff like Eromanga Sensei keeps them in business, i'm all for it. I'd also rather watch eromanga sensei than anything coming out of hollywood. Only the best anime from the last 3 decades is well-remembered. They were always, always "pandering". Stuff like Love Hina was yesterday's cgdct. Your pretentious, out of touch, normalfag, "fanservice is digusting", "what happened to good anime", mindset is a cancer.

What are you talking about?
It sounds to me like you just despise the very concept of trends and subgenres.
>> No. 33619 [Edit]
>>33604
So because one bad anime exists you throw all anime out altogether. Your life must be quite dull, you would not be able to do anything with that logic. I would not even say that Eromanga sensei is the worst that has ever been made either, it's bad but then it's up against stuff like Boku no Piko. The anime industry is an industry, it caters too many different kinds of people, just as not all anime is made to be liked by everybody not everybody should be expected to like all anime, and that's okay.

>>33616
Ero Manga sensei was based on a Manga not an doujin, anyway that's how the industry always has worked, a manga becomes popular so they animate it.
>> No. 33620 [Edit]

Technically, a light novel series. The manga is a different adaptation of it.

That's the perfect description for gachashit; still, anime industry has been like that since forever anon, it's just that the market - otaku - changed.

Honzuki no Gekokujou and Watashi, Nouryoku wa Heikinchi de tte Itta yo ne! arew both shaping up to be better than I expected they would from the first episode of each.

>>33590
Yes that one. I liked it. I felt the red and blue girls were maybe not overly connected(but then it is episode one) but I quite liked the relationship between the other two. The pacing did feel off but even then I don't mind fast pacing as does not waste time with bonding episodes and has them close right from the start as with this where they are visiting each other's houses on the first episode, I can see how others would not like this though. Probably so far what disappointed me was the animation and that it was not real rifle shooting, I also don't know where they can actually go with that sport, it does not seem to be such an interesting thing to watch, we will see.

Only 4 this coming season, it looks like it's getting better. Although they all look awful this time apart from Isekai Quartet which is alright but not that good.

Probably because it spends more than half of its time making fun of isekai/romcom tropes. The characters just happen to be interesting and written well enough to make it work in the long term.
