Ironically enough, the show looks like it was made in 2004.

I like how it's pretty obvious they based that manga on gochiusa. Also, while I was thinking throughout the ep how a small shop with little patronage could have so many employees, I think my answer was found at the end of the ep. Should be interesting.

So I see this is where Hanekawa ended up after sorting out that cat business.

The quality might be laughably bad and will likely only get worse if ep2 is anything to go by but I like the concept behind this anime and think the fantasy steampunk designs are neat. I went in expecting something low budget and cheesy anyway so whatever.
That ending however is an eye sore. It's supposed to be sexy but I'd almost call it gross due in part to the poor animation and art but also how simply distasteful it is.

This is intense.

Oh, man, I read this and didn't know what I was in for. It was awful, but so over the top, in your face and exaggerated that I couldn't help but find the whole thing funny. Still would rather not have it, but at least I got a laugh.

Still, I was thinking again, how will they handle this? Will they give a different set of characters air time for each alternating ep? Seems like if that would be the case, the characters themselves don't have enough established personality, and would detract from the show, spreading them too thin. I suspect they'll stick with the same main cast throughout.

I'm curious about this myself and I'm wondering just how far back they'll go. Everyone and their mother has referenced/parodied the likes of haruhi, and eva by now so I'd assume they'd pass on those, if nothing else due to age and lack of current relevance but I wouldn't count them out completely. Likewise a gundam parody feels like it would be too cliche as it's also been done to death.

What I'm betting on is Girls und panzar without a doubt, decent chance of kemono friends (producing a parody of it helped Last Period gain a lot of attention). Good chance of Love live being brought up too, probably having this virus thing screw up their ability to sing or something like that. Maaybe non-non biyori, maybe kancolle. I can also see something like sword art or one punch man being brought up. Also a good chance of at least one magical girl anime.

Nice! Wouldn't have guessed this one. Thought it might have been a bit too old by this point.

Oh my god they went with ru kyu bu for ep4!

While I do think the concept is cool, there's something to be said about a show that can't stand on it's own two feet and leaches off the popularity of more successful anime&manga. Once you get past the parody and references it's a pretty shallow anime. 4ep in and there's only been one character out of a dozen who's been remotely flushed out at all. There's really no good reason that I can see so far to have so many characters and have them spread thing. Within the context of the series you can easily have a group of 3-4 characters explore different anime ep and not spread things so paper thin. That said this anime doesn't take itself seriously and seems a bit self aware of what it is. It's fun and laughably cheesy at least and if ep4 is anything to go by it seems they might not go with completely obvious picks for what they parody, which is nice. It does leave me wondering if "cute little girls" is going to be the theme here. The over sized cast of female characters and tasteless ED could very well be an indication of what to expect from the parodies to come. With that in mind they'll likely only focus on anime$manga which focuses on cute girls. Not that I'm complaining at all, even if it does sound like it.

Bit a curve ball here. Once they showed that girl working on gunpla I thought this would be a gundam parody ep. Instead we get a hamtaro ep out of left field.

While RPG might have been done to death, this was a pretty fun ep.

Well this was something. Ep9 has the villain take over the world of Tokimeki Memorial. while there she goes man hating feminist mode and indoctrinates the the girls of the game. Of course it's revealed right away she's only acting like a feminist because she's bitter and angry about being alone and rejected by men. It's up to our hero to mend her broken heart and cure her of her evil feminist ways.

So I guess for ep10 they went with some sort of mash up of various older shounen anime. The most obvious ones are saint seiya with some ippo, north star, and yu yu hakusho mixed in.

Seems that ep2 landed these guys in some hot water. For a parody it was a bit too close to the source material it seems.

It's interesting how the first few ep stayed very close to what they were parodying, but as the show went on they started to lean away from that and go with more obscure harder to guess parodies. It's as if someone on the production team realized how bad of an idea this was part way in.

Seems they went with Evangelion for ep 11&12. Not that you could really tell for most of ep11.

In the end they never did explain why the villain is trying to destroy all otaku culture let alone how they're doing it. You'd think they would at least done that much. The show doesn't exactly have many other plot points. Maybe they wanted to leave that open for a sequel?

Yes, but the question is why. In the case of the last anime (the eva parody) she actually kind of liked the anime and regretted attacking it. There 'is' a bit of a case by case thing going on, where in some ep we learn she has specific reasons for hating the anime of that episode, such as hating Tokimeki Memorial because she has no romance in her life, or hating ryu kyu bu for her misguided idea that it makes men only like young girls. Most of the anime we get no answer for, let alone why her and whatever organization she's from have destroyed almost all otaku culture. She even complains at one point about how boring Akihabara has become, but keeps doing what she's doing all the same.
