On the one hand it's kinda neat how they have a tiny society, but on the other hand it takes away from the uniqueness of the characters and their living situation. At first I thought they were gnomes or fairies or something living in secret in the woods like Arrietty. First ep showed a character struggling with a new piece of furniture I assumed was from a dollhouse which was cute, but I guess it was just something they got from a furniture seller which is somehow less fun.
In retrospect Bincho-tan was a lot like this. At first it seems like they're a tiny girl living in the woods, but as it turns out she was roughly the same size as everyone else, even with inconsistencies in scale taken into account. I'm not really complaining though, it's just, something I guess.

Well this anime got dark pretty fucking fast.

Oh as for the plot, there isn't really one. As one would imagine it's just tiny people living their life day by day. Sometimes that might mean ridding a beetle to market, building a tent out of leaves to camp in, or watching your house blow up and have it rebuilt by re-animated monkey skeletons.

It's not that bad. Things get a touch on the dark/serious side but it's always still light hearted in the end. I can't see any of the villains doing anything truly evil here.
