A show about War should not be this adorable.

Maybe beacuse its not about war
Also anime lost most of the manga feeling, i miss these sketchy backgrounds

>>29543
Yeah, I like quite a lot the sketchy backgrounds and landscapes.
But I also liked this first episode, probably because seeing the girls moving around was very nice.

I know half tracks are a real thing, but I'm curious how practical they really are. I mean it's not like the military uses them anymore.
I can't help but imagine the design of this thing would put a lot of stress and wear on that front wheel every time they turn or climb over something. Wouldn't it make more sense to have full tracks and axe the wheel? And when driving over think snow I imagine that front wheel would get absolutely no traction anyway and probably wouldn't make steering very easy.
>> No. 29697 [Edit]
>>29696
It may have been a cost cutting measure. Could be cheaper to use a truck or bike's front rather than the gearing needed to control both tracks independently?

I'd have beat the shit out of her. But really I don't know why they're jumping to conclusions about how many books are left in the world. I doubt that girl has been to very library on the planet has she?

From Wikipedia:
Steering the Kettenkrad was accomplished by turning the handlebars: Up to a certain point, only the front wheel would steer the vehicle. A motion of the handlebars beyond that point would engage the track brakes to help make turns sharper. It was also possible to run the vehicle without the front wheel installed and this was recommended in extreme off-road conditions where speed would be kept low.

I can't explain why the front wheel is a motorcycle fork, but I'm positive there's a reason for it.
But yeah, point is it's not only the front wheel doing the steering because the tracks would easily overcome the friction of the wheel and it would be rendered useless.

It makes sense to have a strong vehicle much more compact than a car in wartime. They had a lot of utility.

Thanks, I didn't know that. Those things have been bugging me for a really long time now but that really clears it up. you're rad anon.
Although it does still sound like the wheel is kind of redundant.

I swear to God I clicked the wrong post the first time, caught it, then clicked the right ones and and double checked, but somehow still screwed up.

Wondering why I quoted anyone in the first place, the thread is short.

Halftracks spread the weight over more area, so they work better over soft terrain than purely wheeled but conversely not as well as fully tracked vehicles. As the other anon said, the controls are normal rather than using track steering. It essentially mean that motorised troops could cover mud and the like without needing special driver training for a tracked vehicle.

You are right that it wears out faster hough.

A lot of cycled animation this episode, and voice work that doesn't match the mouths flapping near the end. That's not a good sign.

At first I thought those were parts she removed or was trying to fit back into place. Took me a minute to realize what was supposed to be a broken gear. Would have made a lot more sense to just have the character say the alternator had died, it needed new spark plugs or maybe the wheel broke off as previously touched on in this thread, all of which they'd likely have plenty of replacements for at that depot. Maybe the BD will make that line look like more of a jagged crack if nothing else.

Your picture is a gear with outer teeth and inner teeth.

The one that broke has outer teeth and a bolt pattern on the inside.
The bolt pattern that holds it makes it impossible to fail in that way.

A piece can break off like a pizza slice from it with cracking going to one or more of the bolt holes connecting to the outside of the pattern, but it will not go through the bolt hole pattern.

So let me get this straight. These two have been traveling a deserted wasteland for who knows how long with little to no knowledge of what everything around them even is. They find bottles filled with a smelly bumbling yellow liquid, and drink it down? It's amusing seeing them get drunk but for all they knew that could have been some sort of expired toxic liquid. They had no reason to believe it was fit for human consumption and not some sort of cleaning chemical or fuel.

Nope, it's just one of the first living creatures they've come across on this otherwise dead planet they're exploring. The only other animals they've found so far were a pair of fish, one dead and one (probably dying) in an old fish farm.

So this is A creature they found living in a weapon which likes to eat ammunition, drink gasoline/petrol, quickly learned how to speak, can detect radio waves and trace their location, transform it's limbs into tools, crack locks(?), and power up giant robots with it's body... Yeah nothing that can go wrong there.
