What's the deal with the trap and the sheep girl? WHAT HAS SCIENCE DONE?
Anyway, there aren't enough "real" mahou shoujos in this post-Madoka world, so I hope this is actually as cute and innocent as it seems; I'll be really disappointed if it pulls a darkshit fakeout.

Your concerns are understandable. No one wants to see the pc/sjw virus infect anime. Traps don't really have anything to do with that movment however. Traps are more of a fetish, something for perverts to fap to, if not that then something meant to be a funny for how silly and usual it is, like a character who always wears a clown costume. I don't believe it has anything to do with being politically correct or fulfilling agendas.

It's either "haha look at that crazy idiot crossdressing!" or "omg he looks like a girl, fap fap fap" (maybe both) but certainly NOT "look at how brave that young boyperson is for fighting gender roles!"

I massively disagree with you. If you are old enough to have seen at least 10 years of internet change then you must have witness the feminization warp take place... "trapping", "boipucci" and other degenerate garbage has become so mainstream and infectious that if you ask the average person who dwells online what the percentage of traps exist, they would most likely reply with at least an extra digit difference. And I won't even start with the fact that such depravity being spread is nothing but a purposefully done thing.

Maybe if you believe japan gives a crap about crazy western bullshit politics and agendas. It's gotten out of hand on the English net sure, but as far as I know the SJW/feminist disease hasn't completely infected and corrupted japan as of yet, or at least not leaked into anime. I have faith they're capable of seeing western culture for the cancer that it is. After all they've mostly just incorporated some of the better aspects of it so far such as holidays, fashion, and some cuisine. cherry picking if you will. As far as I know it's not the norm to cover yourself in tats slut it up and scream YOLO 420 FUCK THE POLICE while selfi facebooking at starbucks with your ipad like some basic bitch.
If it is I'm sorry to hear that, and hope they keep it out of anime at least.

Honestly though I feel like traps have been much less common in recent years. I haven't noticed any myself for a while, where as I remember five-ten years ago traps were all the rage. I don't believe the SJW movement was anywhere near this active back when moyashimon, happiness, or Shugo Chara were originally created. So I don't see how you can pin it on that. If anything, this show being a callback to classic magical girl anime of years past makes me feel this show's trap side character is just an element from those simpler and more fun/wacky times.

Could be, I do remember transvestites being relatively common gags. I haven't seen this show and all I saw was the pictures, so I definitely can't gauge how this character is presented, and therefore can't argue in that regard. The Trap-enticing "movement" issue started iirc with Bridget in 2005/6.
>>28411
You'd be hard press to try arguing Japanese society isn't filled with degeneracy, and I don't mean it in a "righteous persecution" kind of way. I'm not a porn (2D nor 3D) enthusiast, but the range and depth of fetishes the Japanese indulge in is or was leagues worse than what the west indulged in a decade ago.

You are saying I'm using normie logic, yet I haven't stated what you refer to anywhere, not the mention the statement itself is non-sensical. You inferred it sololy to fit your insult, which ironically for you, it's exactly the kind of behaviour normals engage in to attempt to win an argument and feel better about themselves.

Not the person you're replying to, but to my knowledge the thing with japan and all it's crazy weird porn/fetishistic stuff is it's an escape from the norm, not a reflection of it. Their porn goes into extremes because their normal romance/sex life is just that tame and boring. Picture if you will the typical bored housewives that have fantasies of getting violently raped by home invaders, bland uninteresting teens who want to be taken away by sparkly vampires, or made SM toys by some billionaire.

I have no interest in traps myself but have spent a lot of time around people who are crazy about them, and have also known a few trans people. Pervs who like traps aren't necessarily going to be interested in trans people, and can be extremely picky when getting involved with 3D trans. They'll generally only date a trans person if they're very cute/feminine and can believable pass as a girl. They don't care about cis gender role privilege whatever shit, they just want to stick their dick in something cute.
In trying to understand why guys like traps, they typically point to the abnormality of it as being one of the most appealing factors, and how traps apparently play tricks with their minds. I can't pretend to completely understand it, but I can say it has little to nothing to do with the SJW movement, just as tentacle porn has nothing to do with animal rights, and monster girls have nothing to do with stem cell research or debates on genetically modifying human beings. It's just something to get guys excited while they rub their dick that's all.

Something like "Hey look at me I'm watching a real mahou shoujo anime, I'm a real otaku now!". It's played out mostly like your cliche magical girl anime you wouldn't think anyone would actually make these days, but sure enough here it is. There were moments in the first few ep that had me wondering if this was satire, but nah, I think they're completely serious with all of this. There's something really charming about that along with the innocent and purehearted vibe this show gives off. They know the genera is a bit of a joke and this whole anime is one big cliche, but they clearly don't care. That I think is pretty cool.

That's true, there's no need to tell some random loner you're a boy in drag if you've never spoken to him before. When that random loner confesses they have a crush on you though, that's when you should really tell them you're a guy. You don't just assume they already know something like that. You have a moral obligation to inform people romantically interested in you of the situation if you're going to partake in that sort of behavior and life style, it's cruel not to. It's also horrible to assume it's the victims fault for falling into a trap they had no way of knowing was there. God forbid the guy assumes someone who looks and acts like a girl is a girl. Would you have Billy ask every girl he meets if they have a penis?

>So in other words, Yuki (the trap) is a horrible person and we should just leave it at that?
What do you suggest? Should we go to J.C.Staff's offices and protest?

There are morally reproachable characters in a majority of anime; if all characters follow moral guidelines, a lot of plot opportunities and ideas would vanish.

>The point was >>28610 was trying to justify the trap's actions and pass the blame onto the victim.
I think that can be objectively understood by the viewer (subset I'm not included in), on the basis that once this character is revealed to the other one to be a trap, the reaction of the "victim" is what sets the tone of offence. If the victim doesn't care, neither should you, imo... because the target is the one who defines what bothers them, and judging from the screenshots, it seems it's all part of the plot... for some reason...

TL;DR - If the victim (Billy) turns out to be annoyed or mortified by the experience, then you're right and it's wrong... if he doesn't, then the other anon is right. It all depends on what the writers want.

P.D. - Discussions is from the context of the anime, not IRL.

I can certainly see where you're coming from, but I can't agree with that logic. I believe it's wrong to commit a crime or misdeed regardless of weather or not the victim ends up being okay with it. For example; that's like saying it's okay to physically assault random people on the streets because they might find a fight fun. Sure it means no one is upset at the end of the day and there's no hard feelings, but why take the chance and attack someone who might not want to be punched in the face by a stranger on their way home from work? I don't believe there's any reason to take that chance, and common sense dictates most people would rather you not do that to them. Just as most men would rather not fall in love with a girl who turns out to have a dick. Billy might very well end up being okay with it, but that doesn't make the deceitfulness okay.

I don't mind taking this to /tat/ if you like since it is indeed getting very derailed from the anime.

But the thing is, Billy isn't in love with Yuki. He just wanted to distract him and Sheepina because he thought they were the Twin Angels. Sumire (who Billy actually likes, incidentally) and Meguru interpreted his note to Yuki as a love letter and rewrote it as such to "help." If anyone in this situation is being misled and likely to be hurt, it's Yuki.

Look at it this way:

Anime guy A calls anime guy B a faggot. B punches A, A realizes he was a bit of a jerk and everything is cool and nobody cares aftewards. Turns out, legally, verbal provocation does not justify physical assault (which I agree with). A third person saw the "fight" and reported it to the police, which went to A and asked if he wanted to press charges. A says "no" and the matter is closed.

From a point of view, a crime happened.
>I don't mind taking this to /tat/ if you like
>since it is indeed getting very derailed from the anime.
I agree IRL that not disclosing you're trans is despicable, but we're discussing things within the context of the anime... and in the anime, since it's a work of fiction, and therefore has someone who writes the story... this Trap issue only becomes reproachable if the character that is the "victim" is written to decide for it to be reproachable.
>> No. 28630 [Edit]
>>28626
I don't see how this being a written story or work of fiction changes it compared to something that might have happened to you or a friend of yours. Maybe if this story took place in some alternate universe where everyone was bisexual $ gender fluid, then the usual rules wouldn't apply. This might be a rather silly lighthearted anime with magical element, but it still takes place on earth with human characters. The same rules apply them them until proven otherwise. Until they say that up is down, up will remain up. Likewise, until they demonstrate that traps leading on straight men is okay in their world, it will remain wrong.
>> No. 28632 [Edit]
>>28630
>Likewise, until they demonstrate that traps leading on straight men is okay in their world, it will remain wrong.
Indeed, but I'm playing devil's advocate because what matters is what Billy regards as wrong. Like the punching example, it's not only society-dependant, but individual-dependant. If the writers of the anime write that the character Billy, after the reveal, doesn't think it was wrong for the trap to hide that information... then for Billy, it isn't wrong, and at that point, within the anime, it's by default considered ok unless another characters states otherwise.

We agree on the notion (imho, fact) that a cross-dresser, transgender, etc. should disclose that information to someone that believes them to not have a gender discrepancy... but also each person decides what they consider offensive, reproachable, etc... like the myriad of main male characters who endure physical abuse from their present or future lovers: IRL it's wrong, but within an anime it is established as not being an issue, therefore it doesn't matter... and therefore within the world of that anime, beating the crap out of a male is deemed ok.
>> No. 28633 [Edit]
>>28632
>beating the crap out of a male is deemed ok.
Granted this is indeed true from what I've also seen, but I haven't seen any indication it's true for traps leading on straight men. In fact there was an anime a couple seasons back about a guy who got catfished online and it really screwed him up emotionally. The current season of precure meanwhile had a girl fall for someone she thought was a boy and she seemed really upset about it for a little while when they learned the truth. There was also Okabe who struggled with Urushibara in S;G due to finding them attractive but regretting they were male. Had Urushibara lead Okabe into a relationship in that anime then revealed latter they were male, Okabe likely would not have taken it well. I think I've seen other anime where characters are saddened to learn the person they're attracted to is of a different gender like the precure reference but I can't think of more off the top of my head. I think people confusing someone for a different gender is a common theme in anime yes, but not catfishing, and even then people seem disappointment more often than not when they learn the truth about someone they like. That said I can't think of any anime where someone decided they didn't care about the gender and went on with the relationship (there might be some though, I just haven't seen em), Although honestly considering the nature of this anime I would not be surprised if it did end up going in that direction.

>it's by default considered ok unless another characters states otherwise.
We're going to have to agree to disagree here. I believe it's the opposite, but I've already stated why I believe so. We'd likely just go back and forth endlessly at this rate.
