This training ship apparently only had one torpedo and it was a dummy shell. Now call me crazy but shouldn't the naval base know what kind of armaments the ship is carrying before it departs? Also, shouldn't people be questioning how and why an experienced academy instructor allowed themselves to be sunken by a trainee ship commanded by the lowest scoring students in the academy?
And don't tell me they probably jumped to the conclusion that in it's tardiness to the rendezvous point it was arming itself with live torpedoes somewhere. There's no reason why in the not so distant future they wouldn't be able to keep track of their own ships location. I'm unsure what exactly is going on but it seems like command is jumping to a lot of unreasonable conclusions. You'd think someone would ask some questions, including "why would cadets mutiny and attack their commanding offer on their first voyage?", "what do they hope to gain or accomplish?", "if they planed on stealing a ship why the attack, why not just leave?", "If hypothetically this was an act of espionage, why not attack a more valuable target?", "why sink a ship and not kill a single person?", "why didn't the ship that was under attack request assistance or contact anyone until after the incident took place?" so on and so forth
