Zanac is pretty cool, for being from the 1980s. It had very smart AI and it was never the same no matter how many times you played.

Radiant Silvergun is also a real good one.

There is an old one on PC98 called Steam Hearts where you get to fuck the boss at the end, once you beat her. I loved playing that one.

There are plenty more I like too.

Just started playing rRootage. It's more of a tech demo for the XML-based Markup Language the author made to describe the bullet patterns and the routines to procedurally generate pattern(described in the aforementioned language)variations using genetic programming techniques, but dammit, ain't that awesome anyway.

How are you playing futari with mame? I've got it for 360, and it is a very fun game. I'm not very good at it yet, unfortunately.

Last year the mame devs released a version that lets you play a lot of Cave's newer games. However Cave quickly asked them to remove support for those games and the mame devs complied.

If your interested here are some of the other games that work in Mame
Deathsmilies
Pink Sweets
Muchi Muchi Pork
Ibara
Ketsui
Espgaluda 2

During the last year the MAME team had some breakthroughs in emulating the SH3 hardware new CAVE games run in. With some unorthodox(to MAME's philosophy) hacks to improve performance or generate slowdown it is said that games were even somewhat enjoyable(I never personally bothered to try out). But then CAVE supposedly sent in a C&D and the SH3 drivers were pulled out of their repository and latest releases.
The ROM dumps for the games are still out there, so must be the MAME releases that supported them, if you're interested in it.

There was also a russian, I think, team working on SH3 emulation on their own emulator, but I don't remember what happened to them, nor do I remember whether they actually released anything but videos of the thing running.
