Why is nobody talking about this awesome game?

So, yeah... CK, CK:DV and CK2 General. CK and CK:DV mods are fine too.

Screenshot is obviously not mine.

I just recently got Victoria 2 and I suck at it pretty badly. Too much micromanagement. Is this also a Paradox game?

It does look interesting though.

if you cant even manage your own life what makes you think you would be able to manage a European empire

Well, the micromanagement of this game differs in several aspects. The gameplay also differs somewhat significantly than Vicky. I liked the concept and setting of this game, but the implementation of this game was that it was random. Too random. The AI only seeks to propagate the dynasty of the ruler, not some courtier with a family line. Marriages were unrealistic, where you see the ruler of some Irish or Welsh principality is married to someone as far way as Poland or Hungary rather than married to some local Irish courtier, as was during that time period. Playing as a count was boring (until at least when CK2 comes out). I also liked the game's mods, especially the Pagan/Muslim (also Jewish) mod where you can manage as a founder of a pagan or muslim (haven't tried a jewish ruler) dynasty. Yes, it's also a Paradox game. And Crusader Kings is the reason why I got into Paradox games. If I had a game to compare it to, it'd be most similar to Europa Universalis: Rome, except that EU: Rome focuses more on nations than individuals, dynasties and religions as in the case of CK.

In vanilla, You could not play nations that are not Christian, that are military orders or are republics or bishoprics. So you can't play as the Teutonic Order or as the Pope. If someone who is not of your dynasty succeeds, then it's game over.

Two playable vanilla religions
Catholics- pros: benefits from Crusaders, options to go on Crusade, but are more likely to get excommunicated just in case if you fuck with the papal controller or with some other Catholic state. Most Christians in this game are of this denomination.

Orthodox- They have neither pros nor cons. They can't go on crusades and stuff, but they can't be excommunicated. They're the less developed religion compared to Catholics in CK, since Catholics get more events than Orthodox.

(Also, both Catholics and Orthodox can be 'heretics', but only in certain circumstances.)

It's not just about managing 'empires', It's more about managing your own dynasty.
