So what's happening with the PSN? I don't have a PS3 so I've never used PSN, but from what I've heard it's been down for days and peoples' data could be at risk.

From what I've heard, Anonymous has been DDoSing sony, and the fbi has issued 40 arrest warrants for Anonymous.

As for why, no clue, probably something stupid.
playstation has free online play, what's to be pissed about? why not get pissed at Microsoft for increasing the price of xbox live?

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/04/26/update-on-playstation-network-and-qriocity/

>Although we are still investigating the details of this incident, we believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the following information that you provided: name, address (city, state, zip), country, email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login, and handle/PSN online ID. It is also possible that your profile data, including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip), and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have been obtained. While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained.

Yikes

Yes, but not until after I had already bought like 40 games for the thing.
I never registered a credit card so I don't care to much.

My friend had to cancel his credit card, so he's not having dinner tonight.

That's what he gets for having a PS3! (のヮの)

I didn't register my credit card but they have my address, so it still makes me kind of worried.

We can clearly see where their priorities lie. I hope this bites them in the arse, honestly.

I was thinking of getting a PS3 after my xbox dies (PS3/PC is the most efficient combination anyway) but this whole thing has me reconsidering.

I will buy DNF on the ps3 and then end my connection with Sony forever they won't get a single penny from me, accept from my Japanese PSP imports.I was paranoid enough to prevent any major disaster.

PS3s are still better hardware then 360 with more exclusives (unless you count psn/xboxla), I just wouldn't register a credit card with them, which is just as well because the psn line up kind of blows anyway.
>> No. 2615 [Edit]
apparently the channers DIDNT do it. People from AnonOps said that some fanboy did it. But I remeber there being a 711chan /i/ thread dealing with protesting SONY or someshit.

"Each territory will be offering selected PlayStation entertainment content for free download. Specific details of this content will be announced in each region soon.
All existing PlayStation Network customers will be provided with 30 days free membership in the PlayStation Plus premium service. Current members of PlayStation Plus will receive 30 days free service.
Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity subscribers (in countries where the service is available) will receive 30 days free service.

Additional “Welcome Back” entertainment and service offerings will be rolled out over the coming weeks as the company returns the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services to the quality standard users have grown to enjoy and strive to exceed those exceptions."

Also, something about covering losses if they got your card.

So, not only did this not affect me aside from no online play, I'm going to get free shit. Cool.

Could we build up a list of all the available free or nearly free content we could acquire the day it goes up? Wipeout HD is free for plus members isn't it?
>> No. 2659 [Edit]

>> No. 2668 [Edit]

IT was organly when plus came out, and was why I was gonna get plus, but then they roved it and I said fuck it, because at that point it seemed like plus was little more then paying for access to PSN's bargain bin of crap that didn't sell well (50% off crappy avatars and dlc for bad games I don't have?! awesome!)
but with it being free for a month, can't complain, I hope they did bring back wipeoutHD for it
>> No. 2669 [Edit]

No need to feel bad, just them showing their respects to the customers and apologizing for the mess.
