The director was afraid the acid burning through the tree wasn't obvious enough on it's own, which would leave the viewer confused as to why the purple blobs needed to be evaded in the first place.

I can't tell if you're being serious. In that particular scene, they were already zoomed in on a branch getting hit by acid and showing it melting, why add another frame inside of the current frame that just shows the exact same thing from a slightly different perspective? The whole ep was filled with reaction shots of characters, I wouldn't comment on it if they didn't seem to get so carried away with it. Another example what that line up of characters where they pan over each one and bring up a little pop up window over each character to show their reaction, whats the point of that? why not just animate the characters that are already in frame?

>I can't tell if you're being serious.
I'm not.
I agree completely that those mini-scened frames were completely unnecessary. My best guess is those were put in to cover up the QUALITY work of the original scene without needing to reanimate the branch dissolving while keeping the tree still that had significantly more effort put into it still in the scene. If you look at the 1-2 frames before that box pops up on that scene, you can clearly see how botched the original branch/goo scene was.

> Another example what that line up of characters where they pan over each one and bring up a little pop up window over each character to show their reaction, whats the point of that? why not just animate the characters that are already in frame?
That was a still with the frame popping up....to show the same still, only with the character in frame grunting. It was the lowest bid alternative to actually animating a scene; it was a pan of a still with sections of the still emphasized with the hope that the viewer wouldn't realize how little effort was put into the scene.

I tried counting it out for ep2 and they only did the frame reaction thing 6 times, I was expecting more. There were only one or two times when it felt appropriate though.
I mean really now, whats the point of doing that when the character is already on screen?
I wasn't really expecting anything from this season but everything feels so lazy this time around...

The quality this season is so bad and inconsistent it's really rather laughable. Characters look fine for close ups but as soon as they zoom out just a bit everyone turns into kindergarten drawings.

yet the backgrounds are very, very well drawn. This makes the contrasting picture of the background characters stick out much more than they otherwise would.

>>21830
what gets me is when the two faces don't have matching expressions, such as the one you posted.

Though on the bright side, the story is going to pick up from the loose end from S1 with the demon hunting and hopefully the true forms of Sink's and Nanami's rings.

ep3 was pretty decent in terms of quality.
It wasn't over saturated with stuff like this >>21830 and when that sort of thing did pop up it felt much more appropriate.
characters didn't automatically look like shit when zoomed out on either. sometimes they did but it wasn't too bad.
I wonder if they had different people working on ep3 who had their shit together, or if they just put more effort into it because of that large battle.

Nobody ages.

Otherwise the premise of an 8th grader male with no healthy interest in the opposite sex going to fantasy land to be a super hero starts to break down really quickly when you realize he's now a junior in high school and still shorter than the girls (while his HERO mode ages him notably).
>> No. 22119 [Edit]

That's all well and good, but in that respect why even have the heroes show up every year then? why not just make it a continuous story and forgo this illusion that it takes place in (semi)real time?

Once you become familiar with introductory calculus you'll understand.
Most Japanese school children have covered that area of academics by the time they're 12 or 13 years old and they're the target audience.

And it's over. again.

It's nice to see some focus on Becky in the final ep, though about now the cast is getting too big for everybody to get a decent amount of time dedicated to them.

I didn't like how they handled the Gaul-Aria thing, I don't think the inevitable sadness of a love triangle has a place in Dog Days.

the one triangle with Becky, Sink, and the pink dog already exists.
The idea was toyed with a bit in S1, but then thrown out the window in S2.
This is happy feel-good anime, no drama. no sad.
