Great first ep. Looks like they learned something from the first IM@S anime (not Xenoglassia obviously) and instead of dumping all the idols at once they'll take their time to introduce each of them. I'm just afraid it'll end up like the first series anyway and there will be just too many of them.
I don't have much to say I guess. I feel ambivalent about Rin just caving in and agreeing to give being idol a try just because they were persistent. Rather than looking like she has no interest in it she looked like she doesn't think much of the whole idol business period.

I guess the good part of the first ep was not doing anything completely wrong rather than doing something right. For now I liked what I saw, let's see if they can keep this up.

>there will be just too many of them
If anything Cinderella will have way more idols.
The voiced girls alone from the mobile game are almost 40, compared to the 13 they had to work with in the first anime.
It's a shame some of them will barely have any screen time, and some others won't even show up at all, there's just not enough time, even with a 2-cour.

Which is why I hope they will focus on the main unit of 3 instead of spreading themselves thin. '3 new idols every week' doesn't sound like a recipe for a good show to me.
>> No. 21782 [Edit]
I just saw the first ep and I don't get why people kept saying it was so good. wasn't bad or anything just not really much of anything happens. Socially retarded producer scouts a character from one of the precure series then sticks her in endless training. producer then goes and stalks a seemingly random girl until she gives in and decides to become an idol with some encouragement from the precure, and it seems as if they both got scouted for no reason other than the gods declared they're supposed to be idols. ep1 in a nut shell. oh and some character no one cares about shows up at the end for 2 seconds. yeah great stuff.

I can understand why they'd start off with the most boring and uninteresting idols... but they're still boring and uninteresting never the less. The producer at least was something else. I'm more more interested in finding out what makes him tick than the rather generic girls introduced so far.
I can also kinda understand though having to force girls into the role, since some of the CG girls really don't seem like idol material at all and a few don't even want to be idols at all.

I think the general consensus is that "for an idol anime" it wasn't a bad first episode, especially considering most people familiar to the franchise went in with low expectations.

Welp.

My expectations suddenly took a massive plummet. So far we're still focusing on the main 3 (which I don't like that much unfortunately but maybe they'll grow on me) but I can already see them spreading themselves too thin while desperately trying to give each idol some screentime and ending up with a subpar end product ala the last IM@S anime.
>> No. 21806 [Edit]
Why couldn't they just focus on a select few for this season then save another batch for a future season?

For why would one who concludes that most anime is poorly directed and incoherently written partake in forum discussions created for people who enjoy the medium?

>why would one who concludes that most anime is poorly directed and incoherently written partake in forum discussions created for people who enjoy the medium?
As the japanese would say; kore wa kore sore wa sore.
When that poster says "basic observation skills and common sense" it is clearly in reference to the anime and industry. Basic observational skills in the context of conversation skills is a whole different matter.
Secondly, There's nothing wrong with criticizing the series or medium in which it resides. If you're looking for an image board/forum for people who exclusively praise anime there are many out there in the wide open net. Just google anime forum, I'm sure the first results you get will be what you're looking for, quality or enjoyment is not guarantied though. I've been to those type of places where no one dreams of saying anything bad about anime (or anything else) and trust me, those places are horrible for discussion/conversation because there is little discussion/conversation to be had when every post is a variant of "I lik dis anime ^.^" or "recomed me 2 some animes pls " .

>There's nothing wrong with criticizing the series or medium in which it resides
Sure there is, it's a waste of time and benifits nothing. There's nothing wrong with nailing your foot other than it's a complete waste of time and you could do better things. And the fact that if you do not enjoy putting nails into feet then you could just not, instead of nailing feet only to complain about it later. Put simply, there is little logic in doing voluntary things that you do not enjoy. Clearly, if you consider that most anime is poorly directed and incoherently written, you do not actually enjoy the medium.

Criticism for criticisms sake is one of the silliest thing I have ever heard of. As it was mentioned in MGS2, humans cannot adapt to the information age. That is, before the existence of the internet one would discuss things they enjoy with their friends, and you are their friend because you have things in common, and therefor when discussing things with a fellow you will inevitably have more positive than negatives in discussions due to similarities of personality. Sure, there may be things you disagree with when discussing a particular part, but those can be discussed and resolved in rather quick manner due to similarities between you and your friend. So when having a discussion in a normal situation, without the advent of the internet, most discussions are positive. The problem with discussions on the internet is you are pretty much guaranteed criticism, the criticisms can never end when you discuss things on the internet for there is practically no end to opinions. It is not a natural state for a mankind to be in. When discussing with friends you simply disagree and then move onto the more positive, because you are friends for the reason of being similar of taste.

The only way for the internet to become a natural habitat for discussions for mankind is if man inhibits his own natural instincts and restrain himself.

With all that said, it is beyond logic to do things, voluntarily, that you do not enjoy. For what purpose, if I dislike feminism, would I go to a feminist forum?

I feel like that quick cut PV at the end of ep 4 might have been foreshadowing whats to come for this series as a whole. Like this whole show is going to be made up of little more than quickly jumping from one character to the next in one big mess while barely giving them enough time to get a word or two in, let alone give the viewer a chance to get to know any of them.

Basically what I feared in >>21804. Very little screentime for each character and I feel their personalities are weak, gimmicky and simply manufactured. I know this is entertainment industry and all the characters are made to pander to someone in one way or another but you have to make it less obvious at very least. Cinederella Girls isn't doing a good job in this particular aspect.

I was worried at first about them giving all of the characters some decent screentime. Now it's become obvious that's not gonna happen. You got three kinda boring main characters, a bunch of more interesting background characters that stand around doing nothing, a handful of popular characters that make occasional cameos, and a ton of characters who haven't so much as made an appearance yet and probably wont get more than a line or two even if they eventually do.

Nah, I think they're clearly blowing their load on this one. They've already introduced most of the popular characters in one way or another. I doubt they'd wanna do a second season with nothing but B list characters. Even if they keep the same pool of characters there wouldn't really be anywhere for a new series to go anyway. By the end of this most of them will be pros, so there wont be any sort of goal or anything to work towards. This is why I believe they never made a second season for the original. There's not much you can do with an idol stories other than their rise to fame. If they do hold back all the characters who aren't the main 3 so they can shine in a sequel, then that just means this season will be that much worse.

I've seen this same scene in countless anime and there's so much about this I'll never understand.
Does the way they say that really make any difference? Does that hand motion really matter so much that they need to repeat it over and over? how would that make them better entertainers?
Wouldn't it make more sense to practice some actual jokes? Do jokes even really need someone to say that?

I guess it just comes down to Japanese style humor being what it is?

>Does the way they say that really make any difference?
Yes. the Osaka-ben is just about THE SINGLE most important parts of the Manzai Tsukomi.

>Does that hand motion really matter so much that they need to repeat it over and over?
Of course not, but it's being treated like Kendo Training. That's the joke.

>how would that make them better entertainers? Wouldn't it make more sense to practice some actual jokes?
Does their budget include hiring a comedic writer? of course not, and the producers are too risk averse to attempt it regardless.

>Do jokes even really need someone to say that? I guess it just comes down to Japanese style humor being what it is?

You have to understand the Manzai duo, and the culture. The part that makes it work is you don't expect the Tsukomi to be the one that makes the joke funny, which when he does, it is very unexpected and significantly more humorous because of it.

I couldn't help but think this unit doesn't really work well. I like Kirari and she fits the style sure, but she still seems extremely out of place. Sticking her in a group with a pair of lolis only seems to highlight the height difference and makes everything look weird. It kind of reminds me of how awkward it is when a kid gets held back in school a few years in a row and end up being the only one with facial hair. Besides, they never really interacted much exclusively before that ep then suddenly they're best friends? That annoying cat bitch would have been more appropriate I think.

p.s. why the fuck didn't the producer say anything to the girls when the cop started harassing him? He was just a few meters away from them.

I'm just gonna come out and say it. Cinderella Girls fucking sucks. Never mind the moronic handling of an army of characters they clearly don't know what to do with. The real issue with this series is it's all just so damn angsty with nonsensical conflict/drama in place of anything that's actually -fun-. Seriously where's all the music and performances?
I can't speak for all idol fans but I'd like to think all this angst isn't what draws people to idols, let along is what anyone wants to see. The previous idolmaster series wasn't a masterpiece but at least it was fun. On the other hand the only emotion Cinderella Girls seems to want to convey is complete misery and it's only gotten worse in the second half. I know being an idol isn't all fun and games but holy fuck give me a break, does it have to be every single ep with this shit? Every ep lately feels like it was written by someone who's pet just died. All I want is to see something cute and charming and maybe a bit fun, is that so much to ask for?
