I hate the art style so I probably won't ever watch it.

It's that generic shitty paint-bucket'd digital anime with absolutely no detail. Nearly every single background of every scene is just a smooth gradient or extremely undetailed "woods".

Just got me mad thinking about the real mushishi.

Unfortunately that's something we all just have to get used to. It's not going away any time soon.

I disagree with you there, the art for the characters is simple and subtle, yet each character is unique and is different by more than simply a hair color. The amount of effort that went into creating those characters is much more than it appears.

The backgrounds though, are more than "extremely undetailed" or "smooth gradient", THERE IS THAT EXACT SAME MOUNTAIN AREA IN 5 DIFFERENT PLACES WITH THE COLOR GRANDIENTS AND FOG SLIGHTLY CHANGED. THEY THEN SPEND OVER A SOLID MINUTE PANNING OVER IT AS IF THE ANIMATORS DON'T REALIZE THAT WE CAN TELL THEY ARE BEING LAZY. THEY THEN DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

In any case, it's been several years, and let's hope the improvements in production and more experience in the staff and directors make for a positive impact on the new 720p mushishi. Don't be too hard on the new series and judge it by it's predecessor's mistakes.

I'm talking about Mushishi 2, not Mushishi 1.

The first mushishi looked great and didn't lack detail, I would never complain about it. I'm sololy talking about the second season.

It's been a while now, but have towns people always believed everything Ginko says without question? just comes off kinda odd how people don't question anything he tells them. Be it telling people about snowballs that can chase you, or vague predictions about an upcoming disaster. People just take his word for it. I kind of thought that was the point of the first ep, To establish that alcohol which let people see Mushishi that could be used convince people who don't believe him(among other uses). I'm only 3 ep in so far but it's seeming like that stuff is mostly unnecessary.

and I gotta say, the people in that third ep seemed strangle cool will the fact that kid was able to chill out at the bottom of a frozen lake over night and come back alive like there was absolutely zero problems. You'd think some would treat him a bit more coldly since a normal person would have a snowball's chance in hell of surviving that. I mean he's not a super special snowflake, surviving that would clearly be blizarre.

What the fuck? Is that a rifle with a laser sight?
When the hell does this show take place?!

That is a burning wick, which was a staple of early firearms.

I am surprised that peasantry would be using it, but is not unbelievable, per se.

Back in the time before the Enlightenment era, it was common for the word of a shaman, priest, etc. to be taken as fact. Given that these mushi maladies could not be diagnosed, yet alone treated by layman, I would assume that the mushishi (who appear to be organized and preserving of their reputation) would be seen as nothing less than a traveling doctor/magic man.

Also, the country bumpkins probably have not traveled 30 miles in any direction throughout their life, except maybe after marriage. Its not like they have anything else to go by.

I'm confused... why were they transferring her head to new bodys? If her original body got old or gave out why didn't her head? I'm also kind of curious how the process would actually go. Do they just sew the necks together and hope for the best or what?

I still don't get why it wasn't snowing in that area. They said he's emanating a sent that encourages plants to grow but there's no reason why that would effect the weather right?
