I can't believe it's taken the show this long to get a sequel.
>> No. 18336 [Edit]

The manga is exteremly slow. I expect the anime to cover quarter finals only (one cour). We're not even halway through semis so far so they won't get finished this year.

so then,
9 episodes of SoL/naked loli segments and 4 episodes of mahjong,
or are you expecting a backstory arc for the tall girl team?
>> No. 18351 [Edit]

Flashbak-wise Miyamori will get by far the most focus. But as always that's entwined with actual mahjong in order to explain their magic hax.

Nodoka's single bow is driving my autism nuts. I need that symmetry.

was it really so hard for them to find an outfit for her that fit?

the pacing is almost unbearably slow.

Tell me about it...

Adaptation of an ancient manga, I'd think most people who give a damn about the franchise picked that up years ago.

Like anyone here reads manga

Yeah, it's not like we have a whole board dedicated to it or anything.

shouldn't there be some kind of restriction on all these crazy props the players bring with them? seems like it'd be real easy to bring something you could use to cheat with. like a tiny earpiece your team mates can send you messages with as they see on the tv what the other players hands are.

the dress code is A-OK, but the things they bring with them are problematic?

also, cheating wouldn't help you win against magic mahjong powers.
>> No. 18872 [Edit]
actually the dress code bugs me a bit too in the case of that character. I keep hoping someone will throw her a t-shirt or something. also, those magic mahjong powers essentially are cheating.
>> No. 18875 [Edit]

I don't think that Saki is for you.

You should read some other mahjong manga.

betting $5 that this next-episode teaser is going to happen less than 45 seconds before the ED starts playing.

They couldn't be arsed to even come up with filler small talk, just scenes of the mountains and still pans over structures with BGM playing to drag the flash back on another 3 minutes.

They are two god forsaken semi-circles. How hard is it to make them the same size from different angles and distances relative to the rest of her body?
>> No. 19109 [Edit]
If you watch Saki for mahjong, will you be disappoint?
>> No. 19110 [Edit]
Yes. They all cheat using magic and produce nothing but imposable hands.

I was thinking of getting into Saki, is the anime better than the manga? Not sure what to look into first.

probably not

It doesn't matter much. I think both are good. Anime (S1, haven't seen S2 since I've been reading the manga since S1 ended/scanlations appeared pretty much) has some fillers (i.e. more content) and a very rare example of a canon arc that didn't appear in the manga (although it gets referenced sometimes). As such I think watching S1 of the anime is worth it but I have no idea what S2 looks like. I imagine it's a more straightforward adaptation so you can start reading the manga after you finish S1.

For the biggest part I think it's a matter of preference. Would you rather watch an anime or read a manga?
It's worth noting that Ritz has a brilliant background assistant, though.
