Cool first episode.

At the very least I want Hanekawa to remember those truly "golden" weeks already. No matter how it turns out (and in whose favor), I think it's just unbearably unfair not to be able to remember the most important moments of your life; and for her alleged allies to still keep it secret from her (so conveniently, so abusively) it's just too cruel, the more I look on it: it's pure theft. So give Hanekawa her past and her life back, already; give her a chance to make sense of the entire thing; I'll keep rooting for her the entire while.

It was ok.

Right now I'm posting this kind of stuff to distract myself, because the story is hurting my heart. I don't want Hanekawa to be merely a fucking praising mirror; I want her at least to be really in love.

I hope that the story will move on soon, I don't care about anything related to Hanekawa.

She's still my best girl, but for some reason this hasn't been nearly as exciting as expected. Plot wise is painfully slow; service wise... well, I guess they just set the bar way too high for themselves with Nise.

I haven't lost hope, though (I couldn't possibly: it's Hanekawa).

Slow may not be the right word. They are doing a lot of different things, all at once, with the characterization of all the girls who cut their hair (hurrr they developed as characters over the course of a few seconds as their hair fell through the air and need to be reintroduced as their new selves through a combination SOL interactions and reference comedy followed by a single line of dialogue straight-up stating how the character changed because the subtleties of their changes shown through said SOL interactions went over the audience's head. The only character where the theme of a character change even fits is neko hanekawa, and that would've worked out all the same with her hair long and flowing), and then trying to set up 'the big twist' while playing 'where in the world is koyomi sandiego?'

I'd say that's the wrong way to think about it. They put a lot of fanservice into nise, and there were PLENTY of opportunities with long discussions while stark naked for them to equally, if not surpass, what they did with nise.
The correct way to think about it is they are being complacent with themselves and thinking of their high-sales cow to be 'above' that sort of thing. That or the BD of the episode will be a solid 4 mins. longer of extended shower scenes. Either way, the TV version definitely isn't living up to nisemonogatari, and it's due to SHAFT being lazy and not the original material being in a slumpy and lacking-fanservice-material part of the story.

FINALLY, new characters.

This had great moments, but they aborted mission at the most important one (with Tsukihi not remembering "Miss H"). Actually, all episodes end with a nice cliffhanger but they always turn anticlimatic the next one (even worst with all those chapter jumps). They're messing with us a little; I hope they'll tie it together properly when the time comes.

Sometimes it's quiet hard for me stand watching such a clueless Hanekawa; she was supposed to be emotionally repressed, but not in so strong a denial to become like a toddler who can't tell his left from right on anything.

This was most horrendous.
But it was good: a good story.
Don't know if I have much interest left in the series, though (I'm totally done for, here).

BTW: in the end, HorribleSubs were better than Commie. Oh well.

Ep05 was great. Definitely best episode out of the Bakemonogatari sequels so far, and possibly even up there with the real thing. Now to hope there'll be more of them in this sequel.

Generally I've found that HS doesn't explain shit, and aside from OP/ED lyrics, commie simply takes the HS script and localizes it while fixing only the most obvious of errors.

So, you get all of, if not even more (such as SnK's case) gg localization bullshit, but with the original translation being quite rubbish to begin with.

The only positive thing I'll say about them is that their OP/ED lyrics (before the official lyrics are released in written form) are much, much better than those of evetaku/m33w/chihiro/koi generally. If just the TLer did more than a 3-min check of the HS script before sending it to be "edited" and typeset, they would actually be a rather decent sub group. Though I guess nowadays it depends on which TL is the one subbing the show for the group, as they are kinda big now if memory serves correct.

Seriously though, look at her. Her white arm length gloves that go up to her shoulder things look ripped in a few places, and the same could be said for her stockings. Those are the only parts of her that are visibly damaged.

I'm finding myself rolling my eyes at this story. It's not that I don't like the girl the arc is centered on, she's my #2 favorite heroine so far, but the way things are playing out.
It's about the little girl with a victim complex who is being told repeatedly that she's not a victim, but the bully, with the reasoning being she has a victim complex and therefore can't the victim, but the bully. It's some wonderfully circular logic. And that's not even the worst part, the obvious twist at the end is going to be she was an actual victim all along and once that gets revealed, the arc will end with a thinly veiled deus ex machina. It's not like snakes are known to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, after all.
also, I really dislike the format of the story, the end->how did it get here->true end format is one of the most drawn out methods to tell the damn tale, and with the ever-changing narrative perspectives, I just have to wonder what the hell they were thinking. Sure, foreshadowing, make the viewers hyped for the next episode, etc. but switching between present nadeko and future nadeko reminiscing from a point where the story is over repeatedly ruins the immersion and kills the idea that the first end will actually happen as it was implied.

That's not even logic and certainly not what they said. The point was nobody is exclusively a victim or a victimizer all the time, unless being some stereotypical and merely ornamental character like the kind she's beginning to break free from. So far, she was blamed just for being cruel with those snakes and that's correct; however, it's hinted that there's a lot more she might have done or thought or wanted to do and which will unfold over the arc, making her a much more interesting character, catching up with the rest of the series' girls who are all capable of sharp thinking and passionate loving. I mean, even the fire sisters, who share her age, were portrayed not nearly as stupid; this episode was a huge step up for her (by the series' standard, not mine).

Well, it's been used several times before on monogatari. It's also a classic for love stories: to portray them as already dead (Wuthering Heights, Romeo and Juliet,...); you know: [pic related].

I think there might be something different going on here with Nadeko narrating. The beginning is pretty weird (especially Araragi's regeneration not working and Shinobu getting wrecked and Araragi being slain - this is supposed to be the Araragi who wrecks superpowered tigers with swords, not the deadbeat Araragi of Bake), and the way she talks about it later in the episode with the snake sounds weird, too. And then there's the yandere OP, too.

Regardless of that, Nadeko being a victim doesn't seem like the direction the story's going at all. It looks more like Nadeko will be an aggressor this time around, and Ougi says as much.

I liked how half the episode was kaiki setting up death/bad omen flags for himself with every scene, culminating in ononoki's speech about him setting up too many flags to possibly pull it off no matter how easy it should've been.

I learned quite a few things from this series... hopefully (and right on time, now that I really might have to make important changes here).
