I was more excited and pumped while watching the newest episode than in the entire series. It was a wise move of them to split it in two, I'd say.

I hope Kariya makes it out of this encounter with Tokiomi alive. He's my favorite, and I don't want him to die without at least seeing a Bazakah/Saber battle. ;_; Pretty sure I'm going to be alright, I'd say he has some solid plot armor.

I disagree entirely. A two cours season with an entire cour break in the middle is a terrible idea. It's not like it was unexpected for f/z to sell well in the first place.

the long gap made me kind of forget about the show and lose interest. I watched the episodes as soon as they were subbed the first season but had episode 14 downloaded for 2 days before watching it. It's still good but that brake killed my motivation and excitement.

I would not have minded it, if they didn't leave the first half right in the middle of a large scale fight. they couldn't split it when stuff settled down a tad?

I can't even call it a cliffhanger, it's more like someone coming to a abrupt stop in the middle of...

I actually stopped watching at around episode 11 so watching 3 episodes at once over the weekend helped revive my interest better.

I was looking foward to it, I think that the part of the opening where Kiritsugu is hugged from behind and the whole ending were beautyful.
Not to mention that the whole episode was amazing.

I loved the way they animated Excalibur and made a remix of "sword of promised victory" from the VN of F/SN.
Also Kotomine slowly changing his mindset.

Also Kotomine never had a change of heart, he is just a kind priest healing the weak like Jesus would.

...a sentence, then continuing on a week latter like nothing at all happened, and it feels to me like part of the meaning behind the message gets lost in this process.

Did anyone else think it was obvious that girl was gonna die by the end of the ep?

I caught up on all 19 episodes, finally. Had to marathon 5 in total.

The last two felt unnecessary, but the ending of this arc really reminded me of MGS3, with Naked Snake and The Boss. The whole, "What the fuck have I done?" aspect and all.

I thought it was about the same all the way through.

The first half has a bit more tension, and less let-down fight endings, but the second half has the main fights that kept being foreshadowed all during the first season, as well as better opportunities for the VA's to really show their prowess.

I'm quite stupid so I didn't get that scene anime. Is he in the Grail? How can he be in it? Why would he have been able to get the grail? The other servants aren't dead. Why are Ilya and her mother in there? Why did he kill them? The mother already was dead, no? So he is in some kind of realm of the dead? The dead gather in the Grail? But Kiritsugu didn't die? those arent ilya and irisviel, its just images the grail are projecting to him. it's like a dream really. by killing those images he was rejecting the grail

I thought heroic spirits were dead heroes from the past. But after Saber died in the future she was back in the past again? It certainly wasn't a flashback. And why did she die when she tried to destroy the grail? She wasn't able to evade the grail liquid thing? Why wasn't the grail destroyed but instead fulfilled Kireis wish? Sorry for my stupid questions...

In the VN they explain that Saber isn't a regular heroic spirit, she made a contract with the earth before she died so she could seek the grail so she is stuck on that hill before her death until she gets the grail.
