First ep was pretty recappy. Can't wait for the plot to get going.

Also, Oh god shana is so hot.

Considering it's been like 4 years since season 2 and there's more then meets the eye going on with the plot, you can't really blame em.

I didn't say it was a bad thing. I just can't wait for it to get going.

Look at how real this shit just got. You can't even classify and label how real this shit is. It's off the scale, in fact, you could say the existence of the shit has been verified to an infinite degree.

Shit.

Well if you're a fan of mixed emotions and grey area morals this is definitely a show for you. I don't even know what the fuck I'm rooting for at this point.

Episode 4, so good.
>> No. 7061 [Edit]
At this point, I don't think it would have made much difference if I rewatched the first two seasons, I'm in perma lost mode, and come to think of it, the other seasons were also hard to fallow, but with this, it's a whole new level of lost.
I feel like I need a Shakugan no Shana encyclopedia when watching this show.

Good lord man, it's as if half the dialogue is some sort of made up gibberish language.
Is anyone watching this show actually able to understand the plot?

I know exactly what you mean. I just noticed we're on episode 7 already and I haven't had a fucking clue what's going on for any of those episodes. I can't remember being this lost with S2.

The only reason I haven't dropped it at this point is because I've watched two seasons and a movie of it and feel inclined to finish the series.

About time that it started airing.

Oh god shana is so... useless, this season.

lost Alastor, lost her sword, lost her powers, lost her screen time.
I sure as heck hop we get to see her do something other than just standing around in that castle.

I'm finding it hard to care about any of the new Flame Haze. Kind of hoping they get wrecked.

what really? get out of town!
how could anyone not care about any of those in this massive swarm of faceless nameless Flame Haze, who most of which will die before even getting so much as a word out as they act as cannon fodder?

seriously though, I agree.
when they rush out so many new faces at once without any information on them, in an already established series, it's hard to give a crap about them.

From the first episodes I was already rooting for Bal Masque. I don't get the reason of the Flame Hazes to fight them, to slaughter them all. They want to create a new world which would benefit both sides, it would put an end to the fighting. Shana says she fights because "this world, the Crimsom World and the new world in the rift are all parts of the world". What kind of stupid reason is that? That is no reason at all! She kills them all like they are trash that needs to be disposed of, feeling nothing. The Flame Hazes just piss me off more and more each episode. But what bothers me most is that in the end they will somehow convince Yuuji that he is wrong. Fuck you, he is right! You are just close-minded idiots. Shana says she finally found herself and understands herself now. Ok, that's great. You don't mind slaughtering them at all anymore. But where is the reason you stop Yuji/Snake from preventing wars? Is buchtering them fun? The tomogara (that's what they are called, right?) would stop devouring humans, everything would be better. By stopping Bal Masque they are essentially killing many many humans and many many tomogara. And continuing the (end-)needless war. Fuck you Shana, fuck you, Flame Hazes. I hope you all get slaughtered and die a painful death.

wow, you make a pretty good point there.
really changes my view of the show.

I kind of thought something like that was going on, but the plot is so confusing...

Shana explains the reason she continues the war: "The world may be safe for hundreds, even thousands, of years. But in the distant future, the Crimsom Realm, this world, and the new world will face an inescapable catastrophe."

Even in case it is true: who cares? It's humans living there. You really think they won't have destroyed the world in thousands of years? They are factory farming like there's no tomorrow. But even if the "inescapable catastrophe" would happen and humans become ecologically aware and no other catastrophe were to happen (which is highly unlikely), would it really be better to fight them?

Option 1: thousands of years of tomogara devouring humans and Flame Hazes slaughtering tomogara, until humanity destroys itself or some disaster happens.
Option 2: thousand of years of peace. A catastrophe might happen after that. Alternatively, humanity might just destroy itself.

I would choose option 2.

(Is my English ok or it hard to read what I write? I'm German)

why exactly would a thousand of years of peace bring about inescapable catastrophe?
I must have miss the explanation for that one.

"We Four Gods of the Earth ... Our former teacher, the Heart of the Sky, told us the true reason for the storm in the rift between worlds, which foretells the great disaster."

"It occurs because the Crimson Denizens transformed humans into the unstable energy called power of existence. As each portion of it is lost, the world shakes. And those vibrations create waves... A storm in the rift."

"If the God of Creation takes his Denizens to a new world, that unstable energy will return to this world, and the storm will subside."

"But if they act in the new world, as they have in this one... At some point, once again..."
"Disaster will come."

"Of course, the people on this side need not concern themselves with that. Even so, we Four Gods of the Earth shall fight the God of Creation, the Snake of the Festival. Because..."

"this world, the Crimson World, and the new world in the rift are all parts of the world."

"The Four Gods of the Earth will fight the madness that would create an innocent new world. If you accompany us, we shall use all of our power to send you to the next battlefield."

"Shana, you'll fight, right?"

"Yeah."

>if they act in the new world, as they have in this one
>if
why not just ask them if they will or not before continuing the war?

also, they're being kind of vague about what sort of disaster will come.
and to say "once again" means, they've already had this 'disaster' happen before, or maybe are even referring to what's currently going on.
in either case, they seemed to be doing fine, at least until they decided to start this war and get 80% of their friends killed.

haha, yeah that episode more than others, really made flame hazes look like the villains of the story.
I'm wondering if it's intentional.. maybe the creators are trying to get a deeper message across.

also, I'm curious, are the four gods of earth meant to be Native Americans?
If so, this might be my first time seeing them in a anime.

what I don't get is where the flame hazes get off acting like they lost.
All the scary monsters went away and promised never to eat people's life force (or whatever) ever again, how the fuck is that not good enough for them?
It can't be about wanting revenge, they already slaughtered most of them in cold blood with little resistance. see >>8530

and yeah, what the hell was up with the seemingly pointless yet highly built up appearance of the god of blessing light in the sky thing and musician guy in storybook style world and hybrid baby(?) in the glowing jar stuff?
what the fuck was that all about?
and who the heck were those people that looked like they just came back from a con with the magic school bus?

This show makes my brain hurt...

....why the hell were they fighting?
Why couldn't they just talk about their problems without attacking each other after every sentence.
I get the feeling they only fought so the series could go out with a big fight with lots of action at the end.

So Shana was pissed at Yuuji because he was gonna go to fix the city and go to xanadu and leave her? so why was she trying to kill him then?
They both fucking went to xanadu at the end anyway, she could have just fallowed him and avoided all that fighting.

and what difference does it make if their city isn't in the other world? this seemed to be a big deal to them, but there are hundreds of cites in japan, and they know like five people that live in this one, and most of those don't even remember these people anymore, and they don't visit them anymore anyway.

Man, these flame hazes are really violently aggressive with their unstable emotions, so painfully irrational and quick to jump to conclusions that make no sense while ignoring reason and logic.
Shana even says she understands Yuuji's reasoning at the end there... yet was still trying to kill him because he wasn't being open about his emotions?
Oh that's right... most of the flame hazes are women...
