Anybody watching the Young Animators Project? GG's subbing it, in case you didn't know.

The first episode was so-so for me but the second episode (Kizuna Ichigeki) was fanatsic. Lovely art-style, humour, and even the best fight-scene I've seen all year. Of course, I haven't really watched any action anime all year but still.

The grandpa's design reminded me a little of the old man from Mind Game and what do you know, the same guy (Yuichiro Sueyoshi) did the character designs for both. I really hope this show does more fun light-hearted stuff like the 2nd episode than trying to do serious drama. I just don't think the latter works too well given that they only have 25 minutes to work with (that's not to say it can't be done, however).

Here's a more representative screenshot of the 2nd episode.

Two episodes are out, huh. I downloaded Kizuna part without paying much attention, so I just assumed that was all. Guess I will watch Ojisan no Lamp later.

Anyway, I also thought it was pretty good. It was really visually entertainig to watch the action scenes. It was nice to see people actually moving and not just talking, well, perhaps lately I've been watching dialoge focused anime too much. Opening music was decent. And that cat, that was classy as fuck.

Holy shit, that fight scene with the Giga guy at the end of Kizuna Ichigeki. Awesome animation.

Wow, another amazing episode. Quirky heroes and nice little story about a girl conquering her fears. This really makes up for Production IG's episode 3, which was a little on the meh side for me, though still enjoyable. Really sad to see this series end already. God, I wish they had more funding to finance more episodes...

Even though the year's far from over, I'm pretty sure this series will make it on my top 5 for 2011. I strongly urge you guys to check all 4 episodes out if you haven't yet. My personal ranking is:

1) Ep 1 (Kizuna Ichigeki) for DAT FIGHT SCENE. Not only well animated, but well choreographed too.

2) Ep 4 (Banou Yasai Ninninman) for the quirky heroes. Come on, a carrot does a Dirty Harry impression in this.

3) Ep 1 (Ojii-san no Lamp) was alright. I liked the story but I thought the whole execution of the guy coming to terms with reality could have been a lot more subtle. Not a big fan of shows where characters just shout out their feelings to the audience.

4) Ep 3 (Tansuwarashi) was cute and nice enough to watch but that's about it. Personally, I thought it was pretty forgettable.

I'm gonna give it a chance OP.
Saw "animators project" and thought it would be more like an animation tech demo for the students and lack in every other aspect of anime and since animation is the thing I care about the least well it wouldn't be for me but gonna give it a try now, thanks.
Seems fun.

Yeah, that's what I thought the show would be like but no. All of them have pretty good stories.

The one about the lamps was really heart-warming.
