What's your favorite out of these three: 5 Centimeters per Second, Voices of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days?
>> No. 1898 [Edit]
For me it'd have to be The Place Promised in Our Early Days, whilst I loved all 3 of them, this one just stands out as one of my favourite anime.

Ι'd јuѕt lіkе tο іntеrјесt fοr а mοmеnt. Wһаt уοu'rе rеfеrrіng tο аѕ 5 Centimeters per Second, Voices of a Distant Star, and The Place Promised in Our Early Days, are іn fасt, the three most well-known animé directed by Makoto Shinkai, οr аѕ Ι'vе recently tаkеn tο calling them, Los Tres Animé de Senior Makoto. They are not three anime unto themselves, but rather only components of a larger portfolio of animé that this amigo has directed.

I could have worded it differently, you're right.

Place Promised.

Wasn't that obvious based on OPs post?

Anyway, I liked "The Place Promised in Our Early Days" the most. First and foremost was the story itself, followed by the absolutely beautiful artwork.

Voices of a Distant Star was interesting, but I didn't like how he had it produced at 15fps. He did explain its point, but I still didn't enjoy that.

5CM was okay; just more of the same. Lots of cloud porn in that one.

Almost all anime are technically 8 fps. Why is 15 a problem?
>> No. 1979 [Edit]

>8

Huh? Most stuff is 24 or 29. Where did you get 8? Do you know what 8 frames a second would look like? Like watching YouTube on 28k dial-up or something.
>> No. 1982 [Edit]
...unless you're referring to the fractions on which a new frame is animated, but that's not what I was talking about. I was referring to the broadcast frame rate, which is what you'd see watching it on TV, computer etc. Voices of a Distant Star was done at 15, which is half of what the standard is for NTSC which is the broadcast standard in Japan.

I said technically 8 fps. Anime is animated and shown at 24 fps, but for all but a few cases, they only draw every third frame. 24 / 3 = 8fps.

>>1982
So if he made it at 15, how was it aired on a 30fps station?
>> No. 2042 [Edit]
>>2035

Then your point was, well, pointless and irreverent. Also, animators do more than just 8fps, it can be any ratio as long as it's divisible in the correct terms.

>>2035

Pulldowns my boy. It still LOOKED like it was 14fps.

Voices of a Distant Star.
