Most protags are meant to be self inserts, characters that views can relate to or project themselves onto. This is one case in which the self insert character meant to represent the average viewer, actually looks like the average viewer. but it ends with looks, if they really wanted to have him be assosiable with the stereotypical fat otaku, this guy wouldn't have friends, at least not normal friends.
fat ugly people like him don't get friends like that, they get other ugly nerdy losers for friends.
but to be fair, it is possible for pretty people to be friends with ugly little trolls out of petty, which this seems to understand a little, making him distrustful. but at the same time, that distrustfullness should have made him not install the program. I don't know how things would work in the near furture of japan, but when the most popular and pretty girl in school invites a fat loser into her little social group, it's usually to pull some huge prank on him in front of everyone. he had no clue what he was installing, it could have been a virus program to make him humiliate himself for all he knew.
but I guess that wouldn't have made for a very interesting anime if it ended on the first ep like that...

It's kind of blizzard how this whinny fatass has these girls all over him. but I guess in the future girls don't care about looks or money or social status or personality... no, what they really want is someone who's good at playing racquetball online while dressed as a pig.

I know what you mean, but you have to take in the fact that he very desperately wanted to change himself and she desperately needed someone that was slightly skilled to fight for her (the stupid ball game thing in the beginning). The "friends" he has are his childhood friends, which means something significant in Japan, unlike most other places. Hell, he ends up fighting the guy who was his friend and his "friend" tells him that he hates him and practically tried to keep the girl for himself because he didn't want her to get close to the protagonist.

It's possible that the popular girl is just trying to soften him up and get him to trust her so she can use him and know that he'll go through with whatever orders she gives out.

Also, the food thing was done because he didn't want his childhood friends to know that he was bullied or had any problems to make himself less of a problem to them because he hated himself.

I haven't been following the anime and don't know how much there is and what new characters have been presented all that much.

I haven't read the manga, but if I had to guess, I'd say she's planing on leveling up four people to lv 9 and getting them to trust her, then kill them in game and repeating the process to get herself to lv 10.
At least that's what I would do in her position.

Honestly if you dropped it early I'd reccomend you try and pick it back up, it has some solid themes in it, animation is good and the character design is great. Plus its nice to have the romance decided right at the get go too so you don't have any of the harem elements added in cockblocking the accelerated world

After Shu and Yukki it's incredibly refreshing to see a "beta" MC who doesn't flip-flop on his character development when he decides to man up. It shows his problems were actually relevant to what's happening, and not an arbitrary trait assigned to him for the hell of it that he'll never be allowed to grow out of because that's all they planned for his character.

So yeah, he's pretty cool. Also, lots of points for actually attempting it.

This seems to be a common recurring theme in this show.
people in this world associate cable length with intimacy and stuff, so.. why does this guy own a short cable? why do any of these people own one if short cables are that big of a deal?
I imagine buying a short cable in itself would be kind of embarrassing for these people, since they seem to be embarrassed just from owning one in the first place.
and wouldn't the fact that Chiyuri only owned a single really short cable make her a little slutty?

From the start of this show everyone makes a big deal about cables and direct linking, but these people are doing it in damn near every episode!
if they're gonna use the darn things so much why don't they just buy a bunch of long ass fucking cables already and shut the hell up about this stupid crap? Are these cables really THAT expensive or something? Aqua Current Left one on the table of that restaurant and didn't give a crap, and she didn't exactly look like she was rolling in money.

I think the creators just didn't want to bother getting that creative or going into that much detail for supporting characters who would maybe get two or three lines and never been seen again after their five minutes of screen time.
If you notice, the characters who just stayed back during the fight while just firing their weapons and saying nothing and the lowest amount of detail. where as the ones that ran into the fight and did have lines had a bit more work put into their designs. then you got the two from that tag team match, they had a lot more focus in that ep so they had a lot more detail.
The kings have the most detail becuase they're some of the most important characters to the plot. I think that's all there is to it.

I went into this show expecting to really dislike the male MC, but he's really not that bad.

Kinda glad this show is getting 24 eps.

It's OK, but dammit: I expected it to be only 12 episodes, to be able to make a decision already about the figmas they're already luring us with. Now I'll have to wait more, to see if they're worth the buy.

New Opening and Ending, and new drama. I thought that this episode wasn't all that bad. I just hope that the guy doesn't go too far with his role.

It would really be a shame if Chiyu got raped. I know that this is shounen, but sometimes that just isn't enough.

With as much control as he is gaining over those two, he can do whatever he damn well pleases. Haru's defeat is going to lower Chii's morale, so she is going to feel like she has no option but to listen to whatever he says.

It's just as likely to not happen, though. He could be the kind that gets off on messing with Haru since Haru seemed to be the center of his attention, although it's probably because Haru was following him ot to get him to feel forced into being his "dog" so that he can bring down Kuroyukihime using him.

I don't know what's going to happen, though. I'm just pretty much making a bunch of stupid guesses.

This villain doesn't make any sense to me.

Why would finding the second camera be bad? Why did no one turn on their recording shit when meeting him to record all the threats? Would the authorities be seriously unable to believe that there's viruses that caused this stuff? Not to mention the incredible stupidity of creating neural interfaces that connect to a network in the first place. Also, he's a giant dick.

The kings are not friends. They never have been and will never be friends. They pretend to get along and use the agreement just so that they don't have to be paranoid and constantly fend themselves from whatever threats they come against, but as that one yellow clown or whatever that one is called showed off, they all want to reach level 10, which is what she and most other burst linkers are planning.

This screenshot represents how I feel about this arc and Haru.

call it a lucky guess, but when I noticed this in the op of the most recent episode, I guessed that he stole silver crow's flying ability.

silver crow was famous for being the only person in the game with the flying ability, but they show this guy with it, and he doesn't seem new to the game at all from the way he manipulated people last ep, they also at no point show silver crow in the OP with his trademark wings. so they made it clear he loses them.

But to be fair, I thought he'd use his big clipper arm thing to forcibly take the wings and manually attach them to himself or something.

I thought this was a really nice touch. Accel world and SAO were written by the same guy, and when Haru is researching previous Neuro-Linkers he comes across this - the head piece used in SAO. He even says "...in 2020..." which is when SAO takes place-ish.

Well it's finally over.

I must say, I rather enjoyed this series from start to finish.

Thank god this shit is over with. They took a interesting ideas and went absolutely no where with it. they did nothing at all with any of the kings in spite of going on about killing them all to reach the top level of the game, which they didn't do. there's that stuff with Chrome Disaster infecting the fatass, but again they did nothing with that. instead they spent most of the series focusing on the stupid problems of annoying kids while cockteasting to more interesting subject matter. like with Megumi and her mahou shoujo thing she has going on. God this was painful to watch, all the characters progressively got more and more annoying. that crap with the bully is side story grade material at best, I can't believe it was the main story ark.

I know there's going to be a second season, but there's no way I'm watching more of this. at best I might jump in for the last few episodes and skip all the filler shit just to see the conclusion. but if this season was any indication, they'll just drag shit out so they can do a third season. even when viewed as just a battle shonen this sucked. I have no idea why this got so popular.
gotta say though, I wish I had a jetpack powered by the thoughts of naked women.

As soon as the second season starts and Haru gets naked or something, we'll post screen shots of it and he'll eventually come back to watch it later on.

So I finally got to watching the final episode which I had put off for various reasons.

It took 20 ratio points off of my ratio and took a set amount of time that I don't remember to download.

Anyway, it wasn't a bad episode. It was nice to see Haru do the job rather than trying to befriend him like most shounen protagonists do.
