Pardon in advance if this is a really stupid topic, I don't really stay up to date with much modern music. I recently went to an art exhibition and one of the booths was selling plaques based around classic rock bands and stars. It made me wonder, where are the new rock stars? I couldn't think of any myself but I figured maybe it was just me being out of touch with the scene. tl;dr: Are there any rockbands in the modern era that you think will be classics down the road? Who are the rock stars of today? Who's carrying the torch now?
I think rock is a dead genre in the mainstream, so there are no "rock stars". The best of whoever is part of the indie scene now might be remembered by enthusiasts, but that level of recognition will pale in compare to Pink Floyd or Queen. Speaking of indie music, I think it's much more individualistic now. The concept of a 4-man band is a bit antiquated in itself.Post edited on 7th Oct 2024, 11:37pm
With emergence of computer assisted music production there are barely a few men left alive who care about actually being musicians.
>>2934 >the problem of music itself as a medium losing its main purpose, which is to entertain people while they are alone in their room Being able to listen to music alone without playing it yourself only became possible relatively recently. People socialize in real life less, which is what music has always accompanied.Post edited on 8th Oct 2024, 12:18pm
>>2935 How the fuck did people listen to albums then? Not on vinyl record players and cassette players?Post edited on 8th Oct 2024, 12:45pm
